SOURCE: Garmin GPSMap 60 CSx USB Connection

Actually, I just solved the problem myself...

I went to Garmin's driver download site (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591) and got the latest USB driver (2.2.1) for the 60C. (Although, it appears that that driver pertains to all Garmin products, not just the GPSmap series or the 60C.) Installation instructions are pretty much standard for Windows drivers, so it's easy.

That: a) Garmin requires special USB drivers for their product is finicky (most USB-connectable products just connect automatically using Windows' generic USB driver), and b) my unit -- which had always worked just fine, and suddenly stopped connecting out of the blue -- remains a mystery. Nonetheless, a driver upgrade was the final step that I needed. (Although, I also swapped USB cables and upgraded MapSource, too, so maybe it's some combination of those things.)

3 monitors required for emx5016cf-- daisy chain? Any way to EQ monitors?

There are several ways to solve the problem. Probably the simplest technically is to connect a powered speaker (or separate amplifier) to one of the ST OUT jacks in the master section of the top panel for the third speaker, and connect the other two speakers directly to the speaker jacks on the back. The drawback to this arrangement is the possibility of problems with setting the frequency correction (automatic equalizer adjustment). You would have the same problem with paralleling speakers (more on this in a subsequent paragraph) on one channel. It may help to use a second speaker from each channel for the "third" monitor so the automatic EQ is working with the same setup on each channel.

Another method is to daisy chain the mixer by connecting another mixer/EQ amplifier to the pre-EQ SUB OUT jacks to drive the third speaker. This permits independent equalization and level setting for that monitor. (You would probably set this EQ first with the main outputs all the way down, then set the EQ on the two primary monitors.)

Regarding multiple speaker connections to the speaker out jacks: Do not connect them in series ("daisy chain"). Unless they are very closely matched, varying responses in the speakers may cause distortion, and each will be running at about half power. You can connect them in parallel (the + terminals are both connected to the SPEAKER jack + terminal, and the likewise the - terminals are all connected together), if the total impedance is as least 4 Ohms. Note that when two speakers are in parallel, the impedance is calculated as follows: (X1*X2)/(X1+X2), X1 is the impedance of one speaker, and X2 is the impedance of the other. In other words, parallel connection reduces the impedance, and too many in parallel will overload the amplifier. If both speakers are 8 Ohms, this works out to 4 Ohms. See page 29 of the owner's manual.

Chat session ended by mistake. I need help with getting my Garmin GPSMAP 60 CX up and running. 1. I have successfully loaded Trip and Waypoint Manager on the computer 2. I have the unit hooked up to the...

You cannot load maps to the unit using the Trip and Waypoint Manager software. That software only does what it's called - it transfers routes and waypoints. To install maps onto your GPS, you will need Mapsource, which normally comes with the maps. Once it's installed on your PC, you hook up your GPS with a mini-USB cable, choose which maps you want transferred to the unit, and then the Mapsource software will knit the map segments together and transfer them over to the unit. Hope this helps.

How to connect iomega ego blackbelt 3.0 to mack and change the partition

Mac decided not to go with USB 3.0 so you will have to use the USB 2.0 Y cable.
Using the USB Y cable. Plug the cable into the device first, then make sure to plug both USB's in to the computer starting with the short side USB then the longer side USB second. Also try using the USB's on the back side of the computer.
Formatting with Mac OS X, version 10.5 or above. 1. Make sure you have copied any needed files to another location. 2. Select Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility 3. In the left hand column, click on the drive icon for the Iomega Hard Drive. Make sure you click on the high level icon, not the second level volume icon. 4. Select the Partition tab. 5. Change Volume Scheme from Current to 1 Partition. 6. Select the format type from the Format drop-down menu. Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) (recommended) or Mac OS Extended. 7. Click on the Options button. 8. Select the type of partition you want to use: GUID Partition Table - for boot ability on Intel-based Macs Apple Partition Map - for boot ability on PowerPC-based Macs Master Boot Record - if you will use the drive on a PC as well as your Mac. Use this option ONLY if you selected PC-DOS as the format type. CAUTION! In most cases, the computer will fail to format the drive as a Mac OS Extended (HFS+) partition using Master Boot Record. For best results, always choose GUID Partition Table (Intel) or Apple Partition Map (PowerPC). 9. Click OK. 10. Click Apply (10.5-10.6) or Partition (10.4). The drive is ready to use when the format completes.

Loose USB connector

USB connectors are too fragile for the constant in-out service they get. But I have solved the problem, at least for standard Type A. The plug end (its steel case slips into the port end's steel case) is functionally female; it accepts the 4-pin tongue of the port and squeezes it between the 4-pin tongue of the plug end and the steel case of the plug end. So when the plastic tongues wear down, the squeeze isn't tight enough. Solution: take a small vise-grips and make the plug's steel case a little thinner, like a weight on a grilled cheese sandwich you're making. Then when you plug it in, it will resist a bit and feel tighter. And it will now work!

You can't turn the navigation back on with this method. You must once again highlight the waypoint you want to navigate to in your Fine>Waypoints screen and then press the "Go to" highlighted button on the screen.
