Question about Hitachi 55FX48B 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Hitachi model 55FX48B

I need help troubleshooting a Hitachi rear projection television model 55FX48B. It turned off in the middle of watching a program, and won't turn back on. I removed the back, and when I plug the television in, I can see green LEDs light up, and then after a couple of second another green LED turns on in the middle, it gets very bright, and then the power turns completely off.

I am not really great with electronics, but I can do some basic things... it's just been about 20 years since I have tried working on a board. I am going to get the service manual and schematics for the tv, but was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction first. Or maybe it would just be cheaper to pay someone that knows what they are doing?

While watching the television made a pop sound and never came back. Could this be the flyback transformer, or is it somthing else.

TV comes on, plays good for awhile and shuts off. Power light stays on. If you turn it off, it willnot power up until you unplug it and wait approx 30 sec. Picture flutters and goes out then comes back on and off. Please help. What can I do and how much will it cost.

I was having trouble with this TV's picture flickering. If I stomped the floor or lightly slapped the side of the TV it would stop. This went on for about a year. About a week ago, after turning the set off one night, the TV would not turn on the next day. I tried unplugging it for long period of time, but the power light would come on for 1 or 2 seconds and then go out. Do you have any suggestions? drcasa@yahoo.com

The same thing happened to us, I was watching a show and then the tb just shut off. We suspect it may be a fuse.

Did you fix your tv (if so what was the cost and is it worth it) or did you just decide to buy a new tv

No power

The straight answer is you need a new flyback transformer model number FBT2436493A. No need to check anything, just get one and have someone qualified in soldering put it in. Don't go poking around in the unit, their are capacitors that are charged with a couple thousand volts. It can kill you.

No Picture no sound on a Hitachi Rear Projection

if the 120v never comes up, check e994 as it is probably open, and either the blue horizontal retrace cap infront of the h-out transistor is burnt/shorted or transistor could be.
