88 on its own is a Samsung code.

Did you check the evaporator coils at the back of the freezer. It the defrost timer, or the heater fails, if forms a large block of ice and there is no airflow.

Possibly requires re gassing with coolant. Call a refrigeration engineer.

The most common part to replace is the timer motor. It's usually located on the back bottom of fridge, It's a little thingy about 1 1/2 " in diameter. One screw will usually get it loose where you can take a look at it better to see if it's turning. It has a small window where you can see a little wheel turning.

Just a note... if the freezer door switch has failed you will not water or ice in door. (3 terminal switch)

Are you sure about that model number because I have the service manual for a RS265AA if you like. The water valve can be tested ao back with a multi-meter and should show 120 volts or your home voltage when someone presses the dispense water switch. If yes the voltage is present the water control valve is defective and will need replaced.Double check your model number because there are no Samsung refrigerators with the RF2 prefix RS2 is Samsung prefix. Need to pull away from wall and take the cover off to expose the compressor. Unplug and feel the compressor to see if cool or too hot to touch. If too hot to touch the start relay and start capacitor may be at fault and don't plug back in until we can fix the problem. There is also the possibility that the thermostat is broken and had turned the compressor off. Let me know if you want my help. First, the Samsung Refrigerator is the only fridge that has one compressor, but two different evaporators to operate the freezer and the refrigerator separately. Thus, you can have the bottom freezer working fine, while the fridge part will not.
The reason your fridge is not working is probably a faulty door switch in the refrigerator. The switch is malfunctioning, telling the computer that the door is open. Therefore you hear the door alarm go off in intervals, even though the door is actually closed. If the computer registers an open door, it will not pump cool air into the refrigerator, as that would be a waste of energy. All you need to do is replace the door switch. Until you get a new one, you can temporarily fix your fridge by simply removing the old switch altogether. You will not have any light in the fridge, however, it will cool again just fine until you are able to install the new switch (a simple plug-in contraption, by the way).

The problem is freeze up. Bad door gasket or too much window shopping are the biggest issues. Could be low gas. Either take off the back freezer panel and defrost or unplug for 2 days to defrost fully. Oh, and clean the condenser coil. Then, let's see what the unit does.
