TV keeps turning off.

could be a couple of things
first i would guess to be convergance ic then IC831S (STR-X6456).and could be loose connection.
you could try this to narrow it down, purchase a can of freeze at radio shock and spray it on these ic one at a time see if it stays on longer or just replace them

Tv won't turn on

Your problem could be the Convergence board is loading down the power supplies and will not let the TV set come on, or the power/deflection board, part number AA94-08574A, or the STR type regulator IC, part number AA13-00105A. If you locate the convergence board, unplug the connectors, and see if the set will come on. if the set does come on, replace both of the STK convergence IC's at once. The part numbers for those IC's are STK392-40. You can get the original replacement IC's from MCM electronics for about 15 to 16 bucks a piece. Do not use the less expensive STK IC's as they are not the same. the replacement IC's should have the name of SANYO printed right on the face of the IC's. Good Luck

Convergence problem, i want to fix it myself

If you have never opened a TV set or unsoldered and soldered electronic components and if you have never aligned the convergence circuits on a projection TV, then please do not attempt to fix your TV yourself. Have the set looked at by a qualified tech. Although Samsung said it will cost $400, a good tech will replace the defective convergence IC and pico-fuse and realign the convergence for less. When I do a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, so ask your local shops what they charge.

Good be just about anything. This set is common for the regulator IC, the STR-X6456 regulator IC to go bad for starters, the flyback transformer goes bad and takes out the horizontal output transistor sometimes and then blows the main 10 amp fuse. I have also seen the convergence IC's go bad then the set dies because the main fuse blows out, the power supply will go bad because of a surge. If you have no TV repair knowledge, play it safe and have the set looked at by a pro. Good Luck

Picture will not come on

Sounds like you Switching IC has failed. This is becoming a common problem with this type of TV's. This IC is identified on the board as IC831S (STR-X6456). The chip cost about $24.

Power will not stay on...

The Samsung rear projector TV's have a Fail Safe circuit connected to the Flyback transformer, if the power at RR402S dosn't reach 2.25 v in a few seconds the Micom kills power to the switching IC. Most of the time this problem originates in the power section. It could mean the Flyback Transformer is getting bad. But most of the time I have found that the Switching IC is failing. This IC is located between Transformer T801S and attached to large Aluminum Heat Sink. It is identified as IC831S (STR-X6456).
