I have a Toshiba M45 S331 laptop with an apparently dead HDD and possibly dead CD drive. Network booting with PXE looks extremely painfully complicated. Do I have any other options? I would love to boot via USB thumb drive or external HD. I can get to the BIOS. Or, is there a PXE guide I could use with a normal home network?
Only if that laptop has the option of booting from external drives or media ... some newer computers can do that.
I would just get another CD drive (CD/DVD) for it and replace the hard drive and re-install it.
I don't think I've ever PXE booted either ... besides what's the point of laptop that you have to PXE boot - you can't take your network on the road with you?
