Question about Maytag MAH6700AWW Neptune Front-Load Washer
We have an older model Neptune (8 yrs). I recently replaced the bearings on the tub, beyond that, solid performer. My lovely bride recently washed a rug that ultimately disintegrated inside the machine - leaving her to pick out pieces of rug from the drain holes inside the tub. Although the machine still runs, it will not drain prior to launching into its' spin cycle. It basically hums for a while during what I beleive would normally be the drain cycle. I've run it through several cycles, as well, unplugged the machine (HOPING TO RESET SOMETHING). But to no avail, it's still full of water. Is this a repairable item? is it possibly a circuit/signal issue on the circuit board? Something a DIY can repair? Please help me before she drives me to drink heavily?
It souds as if the pump is out on it, they are fairly easy to replace. Just go down to your local appliance repair shop and supply them with the model number and tell em that you need the pump. Also check the pump and make sure the other half of the rug isn't stopping it up.

Tips for a great answer:
Hello Ruth Walker - From what you are describing it sounds like the tub seal is leaking. Typically, if so, the tub bearing is more than likely also bad or faulty. Repairing the seal and/or bearing may be a costly repair. I would strongly recommend contacting a local professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause. You can often locate a qualified tech through the manufacturer website.

Google ""Maytag Neptune load unbalance""
Read thru the post. I feel you have a Clutch malfunction even though you may not be see DC ot UC unbalance errors to the Console.
I'm seeing that around the 5 to 6 yr mark it's time for a Tub Seal replacement and possible Outer Tub and Spinner Support bearings should be replaced on the FAV6800A and FAV9800A machines. It's not too bad for most DIY owners.
