It is unlikely that this is a problem with your speakers more likely that it is a problem with the DVD player itself. I would recomend trying another DVD player.

The first thing you can do is go to www.retrevo.com to download the manual. Secondly all you have to do is match the colors of the wires to the imports in the back. You have five speakers. Two have gray wires, two have red and one has blue. If you also notice each speaker has two wires. One a solid color, the other striped with black. For instance, put the solid red wire into the red import and the red wire with the black stripe into the black import. Repeat this with all the other wires. The easiest way to hook it up to your computer or laptop is to take one of the aux wires (the wires with the yellow/green/black tips). It doesn't matter which one. Put into you headphone import on your computer or laptop. Then put the other side into the Aux on the subwoofer. Located on the front. Turn on the power on the back. Then hit the aux button on the remote. That should work....

Hello. I figured it out. You probably have a computer that only has one AUDIO OUT jack or headphone jack. Take the wire with the green plugs (1/4") and put one end in the AUX jack on the front of the Altec subwoofer and the other in your audio out or headphone jack. After turning on the power switch on the back of the Altec subwoofer, you'll see the green indicator light next to the AUX jack on the subwoofer blink and then come on steadily. YOU MUST HIT THE AUX BUTTON on the remote control, or you won't hear anything. (Make sure your PC's audio is set to line out, if it doesn't recognize the speakers automatically.) This is the same way you hook up an MP3 player or portable CD player, etc.

Because this system is made to work with the PCs, it has a 3.5 mm stereo input. The 360 has rca cable outputs. Fortunately, the signal is the same and all you need is a 3.5 mm to rca y adapter that you can find at radioshack or any local electronics store.
