Question about LG LRFD22850 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator French Door

1 Answer

LG LRFD22850SW light won't go out!

The same thing is happening with our fridge! At first we thought it was the door switches and replaced those, but the lights still won't go out. We removed the light assembly and not only has the assembly plastic melted, but the interior casing of the fridge is also bubbled and melted!! Our fridge is a few years old (under 5) but out of warranty with LG. Will they still replace the part since this is a fire hazard??

Our LG refrigerator just started the same problem tonight with the lights not going off. I just took the lights out so the housing and cover don't melt or catch fire. Is this ok to do till the problem can be resolved?

LG gn253sqa electro cool- temp. control lights in fridge keep flashing and fridge not cooling so good, help?

This has happened to me a couple of times. The problem is that when the fridge door is opened too may times the warm air of summer will block the cold outlets in the fridge with ice.The cold air comes direct from the freezer and the chamber connecting to the fridge clogs up with ice. What one has to do is completely empty the fridge and freezer, leave open both doors so the the ice build-up can melt. Then after about at least 4-5 hours (very important to stick by this time-frame as I tried a less time, but it did not work.),close both the freezer and fridge doors and switch it on.After about 1/2 hour replace your goods in the fridge. The down-side of this is that you will need the kindness of a neighbor or two to use their fridge to store your food whilst this fix is underway..

I have this Kenmore elite 795.77563600 refr that has a strange problem. The Lite bulbs in the refrigerator section, when the doors or door is opened...these lights get real hot...and I mean real HOT..!...

Hello,

That sounds as if the light switch is stuck open so even when the door is closed the lights aren't going off.The ligth switch is in the top hinge cover avove the door and i suspect it should be replaced.

The part number for that light switch is 6600JB3007B that refrigerator is built by LG for sears and thier are only a few select places to purchase the switch from. The only 2 places i know of are of course Sears since they will always sell replacement parts from their Kenmore name brand and a online parts site... repairclinic.com

We have a Lg LFC25760SW fridge and the lights stay on in side the fridge

LG had a circuit board malfunction with many french door models with fridge lights staying on with the door closed. the bulb lens usually overheats; deforms; and falls off. the plastic frame surround is warped too. the bulb sockets are darkened too. if this is the case, call LG and they will usually repair this overheating issue for free. you can just unscrew the bulbs for the meantime.

Unit stopped dead.no lights in both fridge and freezer. Does not run. checked power plugged into another circuit still nothing

The exact same thing happened to me. An LG service tech was sent to my home, only to tell me that he couldnt fix the problem.. a blown fuse. He said the entier fridge had to be replaced. You would think a blown fuse owuld be an easy fix, but evidentally not. LG did replace the appliance but after it was replaced they told me theyd only guarantee the new fridge for 90 days. After that, my extended service plan would come into effect. Good thing Id purchased that plan because my 90 days was up last month & now my ice maker has quit working. I will never buy another LG product!

Fridge gets cold then shuts off

Feel the motor temp. after letting it do its thing for a reasonable period. If motor is extreemly hot then it means motor is switching off on internal protection.(has to be replaced then.). Set temp to its coldest then see if it still switches off as it is. if the same, board is more likely to be a problem. Very seldom if ever does one have to replave sensors. (assuming it has an electronic board). If using a th/stat, replace it if temp does improve but still eratic.

Inside top of refrigerator hot light don't turn off.

There is a service bulletin related to this, dealing with deformation / melting of the lamp cover. The fix is to change the lamp wire harness to one that now has a thermal protector incorporated in it (part number 6621JK2003B) along with changing the main PCB board to one that uses a larger relay for this function (part number 6871JB1423N).

In case you want or need to replace the following,
The lamp cover is part number 3110JA1096A and the lamp holder is part number 3034JA1009A

I tried to cut and paste a few photo's, but was unsuccessful. Sorry. Make sure to test that fans and light switches work after part changes.

I had the same error code. The problem was that the fan had frozen. I defrosted the fridge/freezer completely (it was ok for me cause I have a spare fridge). Your problem possibly is a frozen fan problem

Lg french door fridge

do you have mechanical button switch that should close the light if you close the door?... they could be defective. try to look for these button switch that the doors presses as you close them. if they dont have, then they may be using a magnetic door switch which would be very hard to locate and trouble shoot.
