Hello liltisch,

You can mount it on the center console but depending on the exact Garmin model, there may be a problem with it receiving a strong enough signal from enough satellites to operate properly. Metal from your vehicle reflects the signal but windshield glass lets it through.

Also, it will be more difficult to see the display and program the unit.

Is there enough room on the opposite side of the steering wheel?

Hope this helps.

How do i remove the stereo from a 1997 mitsubishi lancer?

Hi there,

Depending on which chassis model you have (there were two types in 1997), the most common radio mounting arrangement was behind the centre dash panel.

The centre dash panel (which surrounds the radio and possibly the face vents) is secured by a series of screws - these are usually visible and also possibly hidden behind an ashtray etc. Once you remove the screws, simply detach the panel (clips) from the dash assembly and withdraw the centre panel.

Once the centre panel is removed, the internal radio mount brackets will be visible. Remove the screws on the bracket to withdraw the radio (refer to diagram below):

Do I need a Sirius radio antena for a MBB219

What you'll actually need in order to get Sirius is a satellite specific receiver (the JBL SIR 2.5 Satellite Receiver). That should come with the antenna you need.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 310 and the windsreen mount keeps falling off the galss irrespective of how much I clean the window and the suction cup. I have heard this is a common problem... I sent an email off...

Have you tried wetting the suction bottom before applying it? Also, try looking into a Garmin friction mount. It's a heavy bean-bag like mount that is filled with lead pellets and has a rubber bottom that won't slide on your dash. It's easily removable, legal in all 50 US states and you'll prevent damage to your Nuvi as your Nuvi won't fall from the glass and hit the dash.

Power supply to Sirius Radio

yes, some sirius radios work on 5 volts, and some work on 12 volts. Your sportster replay is a 5 volt unit. If you trace that wire back, you will find a cigarette lighter plug with a transformer built into it, with either wires soldered to the terminals, or a female cig plug wired up behind the dash. Whatever sirius unit you plan on hooking up, I strongly reccommend using the transformer that it came with......however if you're willing to take a chance, it's most likely 5 volts.

Sirius XTR1 Receiver cycles on dog screen with beep - keyboard locked

Hello, I had the same problem with my xact xtr1 and I was advised by xact that they have no repair process in works and most likely wont. They did say let it run for 10 minutes and once you have a menu switch to factory defaults which proves to be a worthless fix. I would have to pay $39.95 for a new radio...horrible customer service. The bright side is that Sirius will not charge me the $75.00 transfer fee as a good faith gesture. I have decided to switch to another radio and leave the Xact brand out of the equation, if there is no upgrade or modification to the existing equipment why set yourself up for a future failure.
