With the number of other individuals experiencing the same problem I feel that there must be a common part that is failing. The green moves throughout the screen but primarily around the dark colors. Usually highlighting the mouths, nose and hair of subjects on the screen.

I am under the impression that LCD TVs do not have Cathode ray tubes. Does CRTS stand for something else in this case?

Have you double checked the colors of the components on each end to make sure they are all correct?? And if so try component 2 (most tvs have 2 sets) Also try using another input say input/video 1,2,3 the coax or HDMI etc and see if the color returns. If so you have a bad device or bad component inputs.

I hope the TV is still under warranty. This problem can often be caused by a failing pixels in the display, poor solder connections and other component failure. The only way to know for sure which parts that are no longer within factory specs and for proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed by someone with the correct electronic test equipment and the skills to use the test equipment. Make sure the TV is getting good air flow to allow proper cooling of the TV.

Set its settings to default. In default settings, the color might be a little more than normal. Reduce it.

I have no picture but do have sound. VIZIO VO42L 42" screen

Hi ,
Power on the unit in the dark room then aim a bright flashlight directly to the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reason is the caused.
1. Power supply - missing B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This is caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible resistor.
2. Inverter board - even the B+ is good from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer is faulty no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight - even inverter board is good but if this is busted resulting to black picture also.
Diagnosing the fault is technical and if you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to look for an experienced technician to isolate the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My vizio gv42l fhdtv 10a picture flickers like a strobe light, on every input. had the tv since 08. inverter board? main board? Thanks Robert

you need to check first the power supply board whether the output supply 12-24vdc for the inverter board is stable and not flactuating..you can measure the output voltage with a multitester..you get a voltage output of 12-24 with the inverter board is connected or loaded to the system.be carefull of the high voltage at the inverter board..once the output is stable replace the inverter board or you can measure the output of the inverter be very carefull..the output range upto 500vac.be carefull..if the high voltage is stable replace the lamps...tnx and good luck..

Green screen

There is a failure occurring in one of the processor areas. Sometimes a short in the display panel itself can also cause this type of effect.

The luminance portion of the video signal is referenced to green, because green is the center of the visible spectrum.

You can send the set for service. Intermittent faults are generally difficult and time consuming to locate, therefore can be costly to service. If the set is out of warranty and has a number of years of use, maybe you should consider a new one.

There green tint in my picture on all my connections on vizio 47

Try shielded video cables and make sure you have your cables hooked up correctly. Sometimes you can conect them wrong, specially the red one. If you are using componet in on your tv, make sure the red one is not connected to your audio. The green tint is because you are missing red in your picture.
