Help I am missing the cover on the back of the

Help I am missing the cover on the back of the laptop (to right of battery). I do not know what this cover is called.

  • ckgag Oct 08, 2009

Yes-I looked on E-Bay but there are so many types of "covers". I do not know which one I need. I have an IBM Thinkpad, A21E Type 2655. There are two small covers on backside (three if you count the battery cover). I am missing the one that is on the right side of where the battery is but I do not know what the name of the cover is. All I need to know is the name of the cover or part # I am looking for. lol

PS-Laptop works great for my 9 year daughter-we just lost the cover.

Any info you could give me would be appreciated!

Locksmiths agree on How to install sentury safe batteries
slide open the battery cover located just below the keypad.
Insert a paper clip or pen point into the small hole in the cover. Push in while sliding cover to the right. Disconnect and remove the battery holder. Insert the 4-batteries as indicated.
reconnect the connector and put back the battery holder. Slide the cover back in place.

When I tirn my pc on it only beeps and do nothing else

Sounds like a memory error. Either memory is bad or missing. Can be miss-aligned in the slot. Make sure the laptop is unplugged and battery is out of it. Open the memory cover and remove and then reinsert the stick. Button it back up and try it. If that doesn't work, you might try a new stick of ram.

My kids setup a bios password on my new HP laptop and they cant remember it. How do i remove the password without knowing the previous that was set by them. Please guys help me.

The only way to do this is to reset the CMOS/BIOS memory.

  1. Remove the back cover of your laptop to "reveal" motherboard.
  2. Make a way so that you can see the a bigger portion of the motherboard ESPECIALLY the small lithium battery powering the CMOS chip.
  3. If this battery is reachable, remove it in place.
  4. After 3 minutes or more, place the battery back.
  5. Place the covers back and power on your laptop.
  6. The bios password now should be removed since the content of the CMOS memory is cleared.

How can i locate and change my cmos battery for laptop fujitsu siemens v2010 pro

The above post sounds simple it is Not, the COMS battery in a Fujitsu V2010 is located just to the left side of the left hand mouse button,( just about where it says AMILO Pro) (under the top cover)
(All power off battery out)
To get at it you remove all the base cover screws including the four on the back edge.
Turn the laptop over and remove the power buttons plastic strip by levering upwards between the gaps that are to the left of the Num Lock key and the right of the Esc key, (use a very thin screwdriver) or slide a screwdriver between the Num lock key and cover leaver upwards, then do the same at the Esc key side, the four retaining lugs are left and right of the cover.
The screen should be laid flat as you do this or you will rip off the keys.
Unscrew the wrap over bracket (right of screen) that holds down a thin black cable.
Pull upwards (carefully) the three connectors in the two recesses below it. (Two in left recess one in right recess)
The cables in the right recess are held down with a strip of black tape remove it and remove the cable from the retaining lugs.
Remove the keyboard screw and push slightly towards the screen to get at the retaining strap and remove the strap by levering the lugs upwards on both sides, put the keyboard to one side.
The wireless card cable is slotted in a channel lift it out. Then unclip and lift out the card still attached to the cable.
Remove the left and right screen screws and carefully lift upwards and remove the screen with the wireless card still attached, put the screen to one side,
Remove the four RAM cover screws and lift off the cover put to one side.
There are 3 tiny screws at the back that are just under the screen location remove them, the last screw is just under the key board in a deep recess remove it.
Finally lift the top cover up slightly and push slightly towards the screens location as the COMS battery is attached to the mother board at front left. (Unplug it)
Work very carefully making sure you do not miss any screws, if it will not come off you have missed something. CHECK.
The cover should come off without any resistance.
The screws are different sizes apart from the base cover screws,( TIP) tape a wide strip of cello tape sticky side up on your work bench and group the screws on it marking with felt tip where the were located.
The wires on the battery are RED and BLACK
Leaver out the battery it’s held firmly by a sticky pad and change it (the wires come attached to the new battery. (Battery VARTA CR2032 3v 0405)
I am writing this from memory but I don’t think I have missed anything, remember if it will not move do not force it LOOK. (Something’s can be done not exactly in the order I have tried to explain it)
Replacement is the reverse of removal.
One site I was looking at wanted £45 for changing a keyboard, that’s a real rip off.
Hope this helps if in doubt take it to a shop.
Best of luck. teastheword find me on E Bay.

Attempting to remove the switch cover but the side of the cover (silver) dont move Any Ideas

This is the second time I have responded to this question and hope that this time it is recorded.

1st. I don't know which switch cover you are in question of.
2nd. The only switch cover is the panel where you'll find the Led's or the Touch Panel.
3rd. If this is the panel in which you are asking, let go on. ( If not let's not)
4th. Disconnect all power to unit.
5th. Remove the battery and any media you may have in the unit.
6th. Lay unit on its back (lable up, where it can be seen)

Their are 2- Covers which can be removed. Not knowing why yo want to remove the cover, does not help. So, I will explain how to remove the Touch Led Cover.
7th. With unit on its back and Lable facing you. Please find the first row of rex screws on top of battery Bank. You will see six but only 4 of the six need to be removed.
From left to right 1st screw Yes, second screw NO, third Yes, fourth Yes, fifth NO, six Yes.
The two screws remaining are for the LCD hanging and you don't need to remove them.
8th. Know that you have removed the top set, you can remove the next set,
which are silver and cant be missed.Remove these 3-Silver screws and flip unit over.
Open the cover and before you attempt to remove this cover, you should know of 3- items underneath which are very fragile.
Their are 2-Ribbon cables (12pin) and 1 Mic cable
With your hands on both sides you should be able to lift cover upwards, allowing it to fall over towards you.
9th. You will see 1 4-pin black plug and 2 12 pin ribbon cable connectors.
My advise is to treat this area like it was eggs on grass.
To completely remove these 3 connections
1. disconnect black 4-pin connector
2. Their is a thin plastic brown clip on the top of the connector, which lifts up only about 5 mm
which isn't much!
Remove the two ribbon cables and you are their.
Re-assumable the reverse.
Hope this finds you in good health, in mind and computer.

Dodge Intrepid - how to secure Cover around battery?

Hi,

Dodge Intrepids are not very common in my country. If I remember right, the battery holder/bracket is very exact. It is possible that the new battery is slightly wide/longer and therefore would not be sitting squarely. If this is the case, then the clamp/cover would not fit rightly and would be misaligned. Pls correct me if I am wrong, your car has the battery on the wheel well driver's side front tire? The battery slightly bigger, either that or you need to redo the battery placement all over again.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
