Question about Toshiba 32AF45 32" TV

1 Answer

Toshiba 32AF45 turning off by itself OFTEN.

My grandparents have a Toshiba Model 32AF45, and seem to have the same problem that a few of the other people are listing. The TV is just over 3 years old and keeps turning off ALL DAY long for no reason. It takes 2-4 times of turning the set on for it to finally stay on. What is the problem with this model that it does this and how can they fix the problem????

I have an older toshiba t.v. model 32AF45. the remote does not work and i cant get any other remotes to work on it either. the picture is kinda dark. is there a way to access the menu without it?

The remote sensor inside your TV is not working. It does not receiving infrared signal generated by your remote control. There are two main reasons for this problem. The first one is the defective infrarred sensor itself. The second one is, there is not sufficiant voltage to the remote sensor to work properly. The remote sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front of the Tv. It will be diretly soldered to the front panel control printed circuit board. It is a thhree terminal component, look brownish black in colour, very cheap to buy, and can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. It will look somewhat like this.10_23_2011_3_43_31_am.jpgThere will be typical number printed on its body, and it should be noted when buying a new one. You must ahve a concept of desoldering and soldering, some skill to repair elactronic ciruit boards to replace it by yourself. As far as your sectond complaint is cncerned, lack of brightness, may be of so many reasons. As you know, a TV is composed of hunderes or thousands of small components, and each of them have their own "duty" while the set works. If any one amouhg them have a fault, it will effect the whole working of a TV. Typically, a dark picture may be of ow screen voltage. Screen voltage can be adjusted, and there are adjustment points for screen and sub-brightness. But this is a very skilled work, and and unexpereienced one can't do, and is dangerous. OK.10_23_2011_3_44_44_am.jpg

Tv goes off by itself every few minutes

You have bad solder grounds in your TV. There will also be some bad capacitors. Look for capacitors in the range of 160 volts to 250 volts at 1Mf to 2.2, 3.3, or 4.7Mfs that are bad now. Another common capacitor that goes down are the 25 volt or 35 volt 100Mf ones. The next area would be your vertical IC , it will need resoldered. This is true any most cases of any brand. The capacitors next to the vertical IC will need checked and replaced. A bad cap here will heat the vertical IC and separate the pins from the board. Last and be sure to do this. Check the small board connected to the picture tube. By now this board (CRT) will have many bad grounds. Heat is the enemy of any television. Hope I could clue you in to a repair. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

TV turn off by itself

The easiest way to describe this is to measure the center pin to either outer pin. If either combination reads shorted, that is the problem.
