Stihl ts400 no spark even after fitting new coil

I think if you have ordered a new ignition coil without give-up the serialnumber and year of build of the engine as the most important cause in this kind of disappointments because often there can be made a modification on the coil AND flywheel. both on new models and even the sparkplug changed for better heat degree
Some sellers have are not interesting and often do not know about it themselves, but giving the details on forehand there shall be a book opened. in the differences about modifications.
By themselves they do not usually, as long as it sells, because marketing technical based modifications are common on much technical tools and instruments.

If you have changed sparkplug and coil and cleaned flywheel, you probably have a kill wire problem. Disconnect kill wire from coil and try again.

Change out the coil. But check to see that the wire going from the coil to the switch is not grounded out prior to the switch. Turn switch in off position and have coil unplugged to test for continuity should be none. Flip switch to run and you should have continuity now. EBay $135.00 + shipping for a coil. Get yourself a T27 long reach screw driver for the bolts needed to take off. remove air filter and housing. remove starter recoil. remove sparkplug wire. cover around sparkplug 3 T27 screws 2 tward the carb side and 1 on the flywheel; side toward muffler, then lift off. coil 2 screws and wire for grounding the coil(stop the saw) has a spade connector disconnect. replace coil and put back together in reverse. Oh by the way you should have a pretty strong magnet in the flywheel if not your have to purchase a flywheel too or re-induce magnetism to it. Coil to flywheel Gap
? aprox .020 gap should work its about the standad for all 2 strokes but you will need brass feeler gauges because you set it at the magnet on the flywheel to the iron part of the coil sticking out of the plastic coil case.

Gilera cougar no spark

Not knowing about Gilera but Some general suggestions for ignition problems control if applicable could be: a bobin(coil) sparkplug plugconnector control the gap between flywheel and ignition coil, contact points, contact breaker to mass can have a problem or even a cable,a rotor under distributor hood. or ignition not on time,
If ordering for an engine an ignition coil don't forget always to give up the serialmotor number and year of build to the seller because of marketing technical modifications can be made in the same production year of different ignition coils or flywheels and other.

My Honda *** SR Has no spark. Tried a new plug - but still no spark. Does it have points, or, could it be faulty HT lead or coil?

Your scooter does not use points, remove the plastic cover and check that the flywheel is not spinning loose on the crankshaft. Check the coil and make sure it is bolted on tight. Check all of the wiring for corrosion. Try another sparkplug, this one may be fouled with oil or gas. (Rare on a four-stroke)

I have a B&S IC 12.5

There are no points. There is only a coil mounted to the outside of the flywheel with a black wire that is used to kill spark when grounded out. Check for spark, if no spark present, then disconnect black wire and check for spark, if spark is present then you have a safety switch issue. If no spark present bad coil. Remove 2 screws, remove coil. When you assemble new coil, put in 2 screws loose then put a business card in between coil and magnet tighten screws then spin flywheel to get card out and you are done.

Taking coil of the engine on snoblower toro 8/32 briggs/stratton I don't have the manual for this engine and i need to replace the coil but there is a wire that i have to unplug but it seems to go inside...

that wire goes to under the flywheel which goes to the condenser and points which is probably the problem in the first place the condensor goes bad first before the coil very seldom does the coil go bad few bucks for a condensor and points comparred to big bucks for a coil you have what they call conventional points and condensor not electonic ignition but you can just buy a new electronic ignition coil and just yank the wire from under the flywheel then put your kill switch on the new coil set your gap with a business card from the magnet and the coil and your set

No fire at the sparkplug

Take the flywheel cover off and remove the wire that is attached to the coil. Then try to restart (put the cover back on). If you get spark then you have a wiring issue (coil is being grounded) if it doesn't start then your coil is bad and needs to be replaced.
Report back.

Take the coil off clean with sand paper then get a piece of cardboard from a cereal box or cigarette box, put the piece of cardboard in between the coil and the magnetic strip on the flywheel ''believe it or not it is the perfect gap'' 'let the magnet pull the two together'' then tighten the coil down. if still no spark get a new coil.
