When I turn my computer on, the monitor shows the Dell logo and then goes into sleep mode. I cannot change any settings or adjust anything since the monitor goes blank almost immediately.

I had this problem when i bought new monitor..... restart your computer in safe mode... i think its press f8 on bootup, i will double check for ya... this allows you to change monitor settings without monitor going to sleep on you....once you choose safe mode and windows has started... right click on desktop, then goto properties, click on screensaver tab... click on monitor power (lower left) look for power schemes then change turn off monitor to NEVER. click apply, then ok. close everything and then re-start normal...

this worked for me when i replaced my monitor with an lcd.. it also worked when i broke my laptop screen and had to use a seperate screen...

one thing is you monitor taking power supply from the wall or your tower?

hope i helped ya :)

Its in your power settings. Access it same as when you set the screensaver, is one way. Other times go straight to power settings.

My Dell monitor goes to sleep right after windows xp starts to load and it won't come on after that. my computer is still running but the monitor is a sleep. I have hit f8 and f12 with nothing happening....

Go into safe mode
Under settings, control panel, power options set "turn off monitor to never
reboot

I think this is not a sleep problem but the incorrect monitor settings were set. This will cause the screen to go black when the OS comes up. Boot in safe mode and change the display settings
to 640x480
OR
in safe mode, delete your monitor. When you reboot it will load a default monitor and you should be OK

The computer turns off the signal to the monitor after it goes into sleep mode. You can adjust the power settings in the computer to not turn off the monitor.

Monitor goes into Sleep Mode immediatly upon turning on computer

Ok. I think "sleep mode" means that your monitor might not have a tight connection. Tighten all connections. Also, push the power button on your tower. When you gegt back, go to screensaver- power settings- and from there you can adjust.

This is normaly cause by incorrect power management settings.

check power management setting in both windows and your computers bios

you will not need to worry about the power management settings of the bios when an operating system such as windows is loaded.

Stuck in sleep mode

Press the power button on the Computer it should come out of sleep mode then if it doesn't hold the power button of the computer down until the system turns completely off.

Then turn back on the computer should now boot fine. Once in windows goto control panel and select power option then adjust the setting.
