In order to rid of ants you have to get them at the source, take your time and follow the trail to see where they are coming from. seal off (with caulking) any cracks you see them coming into. then inspect the perimiter and outside ares of your home for any ant mounds. i suggest you use temprid for the interior, you place the product in the area of the activity and let them take it. It is important that you do not kill the ants while you are trying to let them eat the material, the object is they take what you put out and take it back to the nest, in result killing the colony off. and outside i suggest you use granuals or a product called advance.

Sprinkle some Aspartame based artificial sweetner powder (such as Nutrasweet, Equal and others) along their track - it 'relatively' safe as it is commonly used as a sugar alternative but is apparently pretty toxic to ants! Aspartame will apparently destroy the nervous system in large enough quantity: that is how it works especially on fire ants. Hope it helps you as well against your ants problem! Aspartame

I don't know if this is the forum for it but I have an ant problem indoors. I have sprayed the ants with Windex. They look dead. Will windex work as an ant weapon? Thanks

Ants leave an invisible to the naked eye trail for other ants to follow so I don't know if it will work, but I can tell you what will prevent them from coming in sprinkling cinnamon around your house will keep them out the cinnamon burns their feet so they steer clear, it is also safe for pets and kids. You can sprinkle it in your window sills and in front of all doors that lead to the outdoors but it is just faster and easier to go around the whole house leaving the ants no way in anywhere. I have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and a small child I do this every spring and my house is ant free all summer, don't worry about rain it just pushes the cinnamon into the ground making a good barrier around your home. There is a spray however that will kill them inside at Walmart that is cheap and will kill them and is also safe for pets and kids but can be hard to find I hope this helps .

How to remove vehicle engine gaskets and clean

Use some turpentine to put on the old gasket material to loosen it up, then get a 1" scraper and some good wire brushes and scrape off as much as you can before wire brushing.
Will take some elbow grease but the turpentine will loosen any gasket material making it much easier.

The beater bar in my vacuum does not go around and there is no suction in the power head?

Turn up side down- check if belt is intact- I would remove belt ant look for an obstruction. Not familiar with this vac but some motors have replaceable bruches on the motor. Try running and feeling for suction. The motor should sound strong when running. Remove beater brush and check for freedom of movement.

I have a model 51049 Hunter Louden brushed nickel low profile ceiling fan with light; my electrician installed it, but there is a noise like a piece of metal being hit, a scraping noise, which occurs

I have the exact same fan with the exact same problem. I kept taking it apart and could not find the problem until I got it completely apart and took the big housing off. I saw the problem immediately. A couple of the wires were hanging too low and scraping on the round drum that spins. I'm glad I found it, because over time this would have worn the insulation off the wires and created a problem. A potential fire hazard even. I took one of the stiffer solid wires coming from the ceiling and used it to loop around the flimsier stranded wires that were hanging down and scraping. I rolled it all up tight as close to the ceiling as I could and put it all back to together. The fan is beautifully silent now.

I installed it myself. That's my excuse. Your electrician should know better and if he made the rookie mistake of not clearing those wires, he should take it apart and fix it himself for free.

My brushes on my Hoover Steam Vac stopped spinning again! I took the brushes out and they turn fine, but when inserted back into the base, they do not turn, AGAIN! Anyone know what the problem is and...

Tip is slightly, do the brushes spin then? If so, then the brushes are air driven. By the spin indicator at the front of the machine, you'll see a small screen (same type of thing as is in your dryer), scrape it, you'll probably find there's a build-up of fluff. Clean off the fluff, and try again.

I have a 1980's yamaha golf cart and it keeps idling when turned off sometime it turs off is it the soleoid

If you are saying that the motor keeps on running after the key is turned off, one of three possibilities exist. The key switch ihas gone bad, check it with an Olmmeter. Someone has messed with the wire connections, check out all wiring for proper color coded connections. The engine is deiseling because of carbon buildup on the piston and cylinder head. This is the most likely reason for the continued running. The carbon buildup will create hotspots that are hot enough to ignite the fuel even without the spark plug. Pull the head and scrape the carbon off using a screwdriver and a wire brush. Also, clean away any dirt, leaves, grass clippings or whatever may be blocking air from cooling the engine. The starter solinoid can go bad but you surely know the sound of the starter motor verses the sound of the engine.

The lens keeps on moving in and out and there is a sign on the screen to turn off and back on the camera... I have a sony cybershot dsc-w55

I have a cybershot DSC-P5 that was doing this. The plastic ring around the lens that is glued to the casing had become warped. We simply popped it off, brushed/scraped the excess glue away and put the casing back on, now it works fine! Just store it properly and keep an extra eye out for dust coming in where the lens used to be.

Unit wont come on.. tried several power outlets .. I checked the brushes.. they look fine.

First disconnect the power, and remove the carbon brushes again. They will only go in one way and if incorrectly placed inside the unit, the mixer will not operate even if you fix the problem. If the brushes are correctly placed inside the mixer then this problem will most likely be caused by the main control board. You can check this visually by removing the back panel with the power removed. Once you remove this you can see the main board, visually inspect it for any burn marks and also smelling for ant burned wires can prove useful. Part number for the main control is W10119326. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Terrible scraping noise from drum, what is it?

more likely there is a bra wire caught between the inner drum and outer tub, possibly wrapping itself around the element in the bottom.
