When you reset to default settings, many routers have the wireless turned off by deafult so you would need to login to the router and reconfigure it. You can find the manual for it on dlink's website.

Forgotten password for wifi network

Which operating system ??
Your wireless Internet password is the encrypted security pass phrase that was set up when you installed your wireless router.

Your router allows you to access the Internet.
If you have access to more than one wireless network, you may need to remember multiple passwords.

If you happen to forget one password, you have two options: reset your password or locate the current password.

Windows 7 allows you to view the security characters of all your wireless network passwords.
Click the "Wi-Fi" network icon located on the Window's taskbar.

Right-click the name of your network's "SSID" name and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu.

Click the "Security Tab." The network security key is now visible but unreadable.

Click the "Show Characters" check box and this will reveal your wireless password.

Reset My WiFi Password

Wireless networking is a common feature in homes and offices.
Wireless routers provide access to a single Internet source, and wireless passwords ensure that only select users can access the network.

If a password is forgotten or lost, the password can be recovered or reset by accessing the router's Web-based settings menu.

Most wireless routers also have a reset button, which is capable of returning the router to its default settings which includes resetting the password.

Connect to your Wi-Fi or attach your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Open your Web browser.

Enter the default address of your router.
The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website.

Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1."
Enter your username and password.

Many routers use "admin" for the username and password by default.
Locate the wireless security settings. Disable the wireless security.

Reset to Factory Defaults

Locate the reset button on your router.
Typically the reset button is a small indented hole on the back of the device.

Insert a long thin object such as a paperclip and hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to revert the router to its factory default settings.

Open your Web browser.
Enter the default address of your router.

The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website.
Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1."

Please use any pin and insert in the hole marked in red. Press the pin for 10 seconds and the router will be reset. While resetting the router the power should be connected to the router. After that you are able to configure the new settings in the router.

Log in to the management console, if the settings have changed you will have to reset the router to the most basic settings then start it up again, do this by turning to the back of the router, most routers have a pin sized hole in the back, stick a pin down that hole and hold it steadily pushed down for 5 to 10 seconds, release and wait 5 to 10 seconds and try again, hope this helps..

Forgot the user name and password of the d link wireless

If you forgot your password, you must reset your router. Unfortunately this process will change all your settings back to the factory defaults.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.

Trying to reset router it looks right? but can't log on from any computer in house can log on even though it says you are connected

Disconnect the network cable that is connected between the router's WAN port and the cable modem / dsl modem. With router powered on, reset the router by pushing the end of a paper clip into the the small hole in the back marked "RESET" Keep pressure on the switch for 30 seconds, and release.

The router will reboot and be returned to factory settings. You should be able to log into the setup page by pointing your browser to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, when prompted for a user name an password, leave the user name blank and in the password box type "admin" (leave out the quotation marks) .

Change settings as instructed by your Internet Service Provider's tech support group.

When done, power everything down. Reconnect the WAN cable to the modem & power up the modem. After 30 seconds, power the router. After 30 seconds, power the PC.

I hope this helps.

Connection problems

Unless you have a wireless router/access point and a wireless card in your computer, you will need to use the ethernet cable to connect to the internet.

If you do have a wireless router/access point to connect to and a wireless-capable computer, try sticking a pen or the end of a paperclip into a hole on the router marked "Reset" (it might also be unmarked). Hold that button for 30 seconds.

Your router should now be reset to factory defaults. You can now connect wirelessly by choosing the name of your router's manufacturer from the list of available networks. To do that:

Windows XP

  1. Right-click on "My Network Places".
  2. Choose "Properties".
  3. Right-click on "Wireless Network Connection".
  4. Choose "View Available Wireless Networks".
  5. Choose your manufacturer's name from the list that appears.

Windows Vista

  1. Click on the network icon in the lower right of your screen (two computers, one behind another).
  2. Click "Connect to a Network" (it also might be labeled "Connect or Disconnect").
  3. Choose your router manufacturer's name from the list that appears.

Mac OS X

  1. Click on the AirPort menu in the upper right corner (it looks like four "("s on their side).
  2. Choose your router manufacturer's name from the list that appears.
