Vertical lines are caused by one of two things. 1. The photosensitive drum in the toner is scratched or the fuser has a problem. Either is an easy fix.

Black vertical line down the middle of my copies? This only happens when using the feeder.

theres a good chance that excess toner or Rubber degredation is what is causing your Black line/band,
The Manual feed tray Uses A feed roller and a Seperation Pad
If toner has spilt on to the top of the manual feed Roller Housing theres a good chance it may be Seeping on to the print paper Via the Feed roller
Instructions:-
open tray One at the front of tray one is a Closed Hatch which can be opened Upwards using the finger release catches on either end. Once lifted upwards the Manual feed roller should be clearly Visible - Rotate the feed roller until you can see the blue lock plate ho;ding the fed roller in place, insert a flat blade screw driver an d twist gently until you hear the lock plate release , remove the feed roller. You should now see the Offending Seperation pad. Cleaning the Seperation pad should be done using a Rubber restoration Liquid and LintFree Cloth. Use the same on the Feed roller . refit roller to tray and close and lock the Blue plate .
close down the Service Hatch and return to machine -
You may need to run several pages through tray one before all tread marks Dissapear

My printed pages have a single vertical blackish/grey line

Hi johnpenglish,

This is a fairly common problem - it happens when some toner accidentally gets on one of the rollers that feeds the paper through the machine. This problem will often fix itself (i.e., once the loose toner has rubbed off on a few sheets of paper, it will not be on the roller anymore), but if you continue to have the problem, try using a damp cloth or paper towel to wipe off any loose toner on the rollers or the inside of the machine (you might need to remove the toner cartridge in order to reach parts of the feeding path. Be careful not to get the toner on your skin or clothing, since it stains.

Once you've gotten any loose toner off the rollers, you should no longer have a problem with lines in your copies. If the problem recurs frequently, it may be a sign of a defective toner cartridge (which releases more toner than it's supposed to).

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

I have a brother copier model dcp 7025 and am experiencing a vertical line on copies where the original is fed through the top feeder tray but the copies are fine when the original is placed directly onto...

Depends which way is vertical but I think the feed rollers on the upper tray are slipping perhaps dirty. (The paper momentarily stops feeding past the scan sensor)

Lines on making copies

clean the glass of the scanning area, a small dot of debris on the glass produces a vertical line from top to bottom in the feeding direction of the laser printer.

Copying with page feed results in a vertical line on every page

There must be a strip of glass about one inch wide, next to
the large glass. There is the problem !
Clean that strip thourougly. When you use the feeder the pages
are scanned thru the small strip of glass.

Consistent, faded and streaking vertical lines across entire page, from top to bottom.

Toner issue getting to drum - use gen toner cart.

or Drum blade stuffed (lines are down page fro top to bottom- replace drum assy

Drum has been exposed to light faint or blank across copies repeated 4 times down page - replace drum assy

or upper fuser roller stuffed, down page, smudgy print -  replace fuser

LSU(laser) or boards rarely cause issues
