I just posted this to your previous meassage. Burning smells coming from macs often indicate a failure in the power supply module. That said, the G4 iMac (in my experience) has been the most reliable iMac ever and power module failures are very rare.
Your best option is to find a Mac repair centre near you and take in in for a quote. But be warned - it will cost. For some reason known only to Apple power supply modules are expensive (but not as expensive as the equivalent volume of HP ink) and replacing them is not as easy as on many of the other computers.
If it is the power supply, you will not be able to switch it on again. Your data on the HD should be safe (unless the smell was coming from that - - I've had it happen!). So when you get to the workshop and you've had your quote, if you decide not to go ahead with the repair, ask the workshop to remove your HD and put it into an external case so that you can plug it in to another Mac and continue using it.
Let us know what the outcome is.

My car is hard to turn, it makes an awful noise and is smoking, it smells like burnt rubber, if i continue to drive it what will happen

Hi Debbie,
Not sure with out looking at it, But from what you posted if hard to turn
sounds like your power steering punp aint working , ant if smoking and smells like burnt rubber sounds like pumps locked up, (pully not turning) and if so continuing to drive it could leave you on side of road if it runs a cerpintine belt , that kind of belt runs every thing and if breaks water pump stops flowing water motor will over heat, you should realy have someone look at that for you.

It sounds like something clanking and starts to smell

Turn your vacuum over and look where the brush is, there could be several things wrong with it but you should be able to locate the problem here. It sounds as is you sucked up a penny or rock or something hard hence the clanking. The smell is either the object in questing is getting stuck by the brushes and creating a smell most likely a burnt rubber smell I would assume.

Overheating/burnt rubber smell

classical sign of a bad motor. the motor has a thermal switch on it telling the unit to shut off when it gets hot. after it cools down, the switch will tell the motor to turn back on again. good luck, i'm pretty sure that's your problem. contact me for further help if needed. thanks :)

Your belt is worn and that is why there is a burnt rubber smell. You need to change your belt. You can find a replacement belt and instructions here:

Burnt Rubber Smell then Off

That would most likely be a problem with the inverter or magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer.
