How do I clean the inside of the coffee grinder kitchenaid model A-9

Instructions Things you need
  • Soapy water
  • Screwdriver
  • Burr cleaning brush
  • Damp cloth

1 Turn off your KitchenAid coffee grinder and unplug it from the socket.
This reduces the risk of injury while cleaning the appliance.

2 Turn the bean hopper, located at the top of the grinder, counter- clockwise and remove it from the appliance.

3 Slide the coffee bin toward you to remove it from the grinder.

4 Wash the hopper, hopper lid and the coffee bin in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry these parts after cleaning.

5 Locate the grind control dial on the front of your KitchenAid coffee grinder. Screws are located to the left and right of this dial.

6 Turn the screws counter-clockwise with a flat head screwdriver to remove them from the grinder.

7 Pull the entire faceplate assembly gently toward you and out of the KitchenAid coffee grinder. The faceplate assembly is attached to the back of the grind control knob.

8 Pull out the burr shaft assembly, which is right behind the faceplate assembly.

9 Brush the burr shaft assembly with the burr-cleaning brush included with your KitchenAid coffee grinder to remove any debris or remaining grinds.

10 Reassemble the KitchenAid coffee grinder by returning the burr shaft assembly and faceplate assembly to the appliance. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver to hold the assemblies in place.

11 Wipe down the exterior of the coffee grinder with a damp cloth.

12 Return the clean coffee bin, hopper and hopper lid to your clean KitchenAid coffee grinder.

The beans go through the grinder very slow so the machine stops and the bean lite comes. Never does enough beans get ground to start the brewing cycle.

Hi, Your grinder is gumed up and needs to be removed and disassembled to be cleaned out. It works by timing and not coffee weight. If you dont clean it out, it will cause the grinder motor brushes to wear very quickly, and you,ll have to replace the whole grinder assembly. expensive. Use white out to mark the postion of the grinder assembly before you disassemble it. Can be a bit confussing when reassembly of the grinder, but take your time. Put it back together excactly how it was, and it'll be like new again, plus your coffee will taste heaps better. You can call me if you have problems 0401 200 901. Dazza Repairer

The grinder on my DeLonghi seems to be stuck. It makes only a noise but not s bean is ground and one can hear it is not turning. Any solutions? Thank you

Likely a foreign object is blocking up the grinder. Remove all beans and run at coarsest grind to try to clear it, chase it through with more beans if necessary. If this does not clear it then the top burr of the grinder assembly can be removed after disassembling the machine. Mark the grinder coarseness cogs before moving them to assist reassembly. Moderately difficult procedure.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
Inside your grinder either the stationary switch or the rotating assembly that actuates the stationary switch has failed.

Download this pdf file:
http://www.baldor.com/pdf/literature/CA506_0806_WEB.pdf Then go to page 9

The rotating assembly is this part number: (most common failure)
34RS2060SP

You must remove the end plate / cap to change this part.

The statonary switch rarely fails unless the rotating assembly damaged the contacts when the rotating assemble failed. When the rotating assembly fails you often find a spring and flyweight loose inside the grinder during disassembly. Should your stationary switch have failed try and get a number off of it so you can get the right switch. Otherwise you have to use NEMA code / Body type numbers.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi
I would suspect that the burrs have never touched. There has to be some coffee grounds in the threads that is preventing the burr assembly form going in any farther. Remove the burr assembly and check the threads inside the chamber. If there is any black coffee residue it has to be removed. It sometimes has to be chipped out of the threads. We used a dental probe to remove it. Then a tooth brush. When reassembling the burr assembly turn all the way in until you see the acorn nut in the center rotate. STOP. Back the assembly back until the nut stops rotating. That is ZERO. You can install the bean hopper with the zero facing the mark. You can also move the assembly a little counter clockwise, but not clockwise, to line up the screw holes. Make sure that you have the hopper stop in place before tigntening you screw down. Then turn the bean hopper to 7 and test.

You need to remove the lower spray arm, then the water volute that runs up the back needs to get disconnected by removing it from its rear clip (center of tub almost behind upper rack, next twist volute connector clockwise until you can pull the connector and upper supply volute tube apart. Remove connector from top of pump and then remove 5? torx screws to remove top of pump (filter plate) then look inside front section of pump sump area and locate two more torx screws to remove (on right) first sump inlet cover. The screw on the left is for the macerator (grinder assembly) cover. Pull straight up on the cover to expose the chopper assembly. Try not to disturb the chopper screen from it's location as it connects to the pump impellar shaft and is difficult to re-install. Clean any and all debris from the now open areas and re- assemble the pump.
Good luck!

Incanto sirius states grinder blocked. Took apart

I own a Saeco Incanto Deluxe. It employs the ceramic grinder that has worked flawlessly for 3-4 years. One day it stopped and "Grinder Blocked" appeared. I removed the entire grinder unit, cleaned it thoroughly and calibrated the grinder. This did not fix the problem. After many similar attempts, I found the entire grinder assembly (motor, grinder etc.) online for $149.00. Install of the new assembly took me five minutes and it works perfectly. Please note that the ceramic grinding blades (there are two round ones that must be aligned corrrectly) cost $40 a piece (same site where I found the entire assembly for $149). My suggestion--save yourself the agony and replace the assembly if cleaning and calibration fails.
