Go to the back of your owners manual and find out how to do a system reset. I had the same problem, on mine I held down the reset button on the remote while manually turning off the tv. The TV went off, then came back on. It's working perfectly again.

Vertical colored bars are a communication problem between the light engine and the q box, You could have a bad lvds cable which is what they communicate through. Unfortunately there are specific diagnostic steps a tech will have to do to determine which one is defective. and the results of the testing are not always absolute. I have had to diagnose this issue before and it requires bringing up video patterns that are located in the light engine micro and the q box micro to help in isolation.
I cannot give you a good estimate on repair because the q box and light engine are extremely expensive. If you are lucky and it is the lvds cable it would not be much to repair around $150 or so.
