Question about Acer Computers & Internet
I have an Acer Aspire SA8-2970 PC which has , what I can only think has a virus on it. A box appears each time I log on saying Security Tool and it will not let me do anything at all but says someone is trying to get my card details then asks me to buy this security tool to get rid of the virus. but every time I click of it it comes back straight away. I cant even go on the system restore on it as it is blocking everything. is there anyway i can download a recovery disc as the origional has been mislaid. Thanks Kate
It may well be some form of virus or spyware.
It may also be that you have too many applications running at once eg. lots of toolbars and instant message typ programs.
It can also happen on graphic intensive applications.
You should rule out nasty stuff first.
for a free one its pretty darned good !
From a CLEAN computer download and put on a flash drive.
Copy to your DESKTOP on the suspec computer.
Run it but dont change any options just use what it offers.
When its done let it clean anything it finds.
Its where I always start with an infected machine.
As for antivirus AVOID Norton or Mcafee but try the AVG FREE version MBAM should clean up without buying
Only continued use would require purchase As for too many applications that would be up to you to decide what you REALLY need and dont. Most toolbars are a waste of both time and space and can hog computers down. Maybe a good clean up is in order ?
It may just be a "leaking application"
These are badly coded programs that dont release memory when they should and just keep taking more to do the same job.
May I suggest you download "hijackthis"
It is a program that can make a report on what you have running in such a way that you can post that information to certain sites and experts there will look at it.
They will then give you reccomendations as to how you can remove programs or fix some issues that may be upsetting your computer.
Dont post the log here but follow the nstructions and help the program offers to send it to one of the sites it will offer you.
If you understand startup lists you may even be able to spot som things yourself that you dont want to run and disable them from hijack this.

Testimonial: "Thank you so much for those tips. I will try them now and hope for the best. Thanks again for going to the trouble to help me. Kate "
It seems that the computer is effected with some Spyware or Malware
Try to Start your System in Safe mode by pressing F8 while booting
Log in as an Administrator
Click Start > Run and type msconfig
Go to Startup Tab
Click on Disable all
Go to Services Tab, Check "Hide all Microsoft services"
Click Disable all
Restart the computer in normal mode
Hope this helps you to get rid of the message, If you happen to get rid of the message I would suggest you to Scan your computer by Installing a strong Anti virus and Anti spyware and keep it clean from such malware and spyware attacks

Ok, that is the virus which is asking for your card details, there is no other virus.
You should be able to run system restore on safe mode. press F8 at the boot time, you will be able to see a prompt. run the safe mode. It will ask, if you want to use system restore. click yes. then , goto start>accessories>system tools>system restore.
Hope it will work.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
