Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

My GE model GSS25WGMD CC is not cooling properly. The condensor fan is not running. I have replaced the fan motor and have voltage going to the fan. The compressor is running and evaporator fan is working. Am I overlooking something else?

Fan motor is new. Have 13.9 vdc going to fan on red and white leads also between red and yellow. Good ohm reading on windings between red and white.

Try and see if a small fan ,pluged into the wall aimed at the condenser will let the frige start cooling. How many volts are at the fan?Is this a new fan?Is the fan humming,or making a noise? If you have voltage at the fan, then the new fan is defective.I hope this was some help. Not knowing a lot of facts, henders the diagnoses. If this was some help at all, please let us know, thanks.

Hello Jerry Barton,

I would say... jump on it

They are essentially they are same machine...
On a trouble you are describing ... I would

If watch the VIDEO & you go inside... you will never look at refrigerators the same... and a pizza box or stuck ice cube could have started all your troubles ((my opinion))

GE profile refrigerator model # PDS22SCRRS not cooling. I looked in the back and condensor fan is not working. Should I assume that it needs a new motor or is it possibly the motherboard which I have read...

Check to see if you have 110 volts at the motor with the compressor running. If you do then your motor is bad - replace it. Also make sure something has not gotten in the fan to keep it from working. The fan must run to keep the compressor cool and from over heating. Be sure to put the back of the refrigerator back on when you are through.

Big fan in outside unit shuts off but condensor keeps running....gets very warm in the house . AC repar man came and checked motor which worked fine when he was here. Now it has stopped working...

check for proper voltage at contactor, check capacitor, motor might be going out on overload. Meaning it is getting hot and shutting off. when it cools down it starts again. windings in motor are probably going bad.

Model is GSS25WGMD WW No cooling in freezer or refrigerator

look for ice or forst build up on the rear wall of freezer compartment, sounds like you may have a defrost problem. this will affect temps in freezer and refrig. the most common def problems for GE are bad defrost heaters. these are model specific and fairly easy to replace your self. i got this part number form WR51X10055 good luck peyton

Ge refrigerator model PDS20MBSAWW

gee seems to me if your are getting the proper voltage witch you say you are sounds to me like a bad condensor fan motor. is the compressor running, maybe shut off because it was to hot.and you are right the motor voltage is from the board. we have had alot of mother board failures on the ge line. but that would be the problem if you were not getting power to the motor.on some models the power comes from the relay /overload hooked to the compressor. if the compressor doesnt come on and you hear a clicking from it every few minutes then you could have a bad
overload and relay that is mounted to the compressor.if thats all good then id say order another motor.

General Electric Refrigerator

Check the connection of the electrical harness to the fan motor. If it is fully connected and the motor still does not run replace the fan motor. The fan MUST operate at the same time as the compressor to properly cool the system. Spin the fan blade by hand with he power off. If it turns with any resistance the bearings are dry and in most cases the motor is replaced.
