Listen for the freezer fan
you may have an ice build up in the air channel
close the freezer door you should feel a good cold air flow of air in the center top shelf

if the fan is moving and you cannot feel air

its either an ice clog or you damper has failed in the closed position for some reason

you can repair this youself one of two ways

let the unit defrost for several hours if you find alot of water in the refer after it was an ice block

when you turn it back on there is no water or cooling it is just a damper contol

you should see a lever on the back freezer wall looks like a small buton turn that ,

what your descibing sounds just like an air flow issue

    turn that button 90 degrees

    milten1 Oct 09, 2009

it should be cool at first, then get gradually colder

as the machine works its way doiwn to temp

once defrosted you should be able to turn that button

your feeling air you should be fine,

but you may want to keep an eye on it

Frigidaire freezer, model: LFFH2067DW4. Runs constantly, 10 degrees inside, outside top and sides VERY hot to the touch, high temperature alarm will not turn off. What's the problem? Defrost timer?

I'm assuming Fahrenheit... (USA?)

If you can get down that cold... but not seize up completely in FROST your timer is MOST PROBABLY cycling correctly...

What can cause a refrigerator to work very hard... generate heat yet still fight to cool (Impressive when you think about it)...

I know this is going to sound crazy... but your INTERIOR LIGHT.

Never-mind trouble shooting... just take the light out to see if the WARM case situation improves immediately...

Else you need to give your coils a serious good cleaning

Top freezer works but main frig does not

The way a refrigerator / freezer works is a single cooling coil in the freezer controlled with a thermostat. There is a fan that blows cold air down into the refrigerator section. There is another control that is just a vent control that changes the size of the opening for air flow. if the fan fails you don't get good cooling in the refrigerator section or if the defrost is not working correctly ice will build up and also stop the flow of air to the refrigerator. You should be able to hear the fan working inside the freezer. Replacing a fan motor is much simpler than troubleshooting an icing problem. There are several components that can cause defrost to not work. Bad temp cutoff switch, defrost timer or heater element could be causing that problem. With the unit unplugged and heater element disconnected you can use an ohm meter to measure resistance of the heater, should measure some resistance. Same with cutoff you should measure resistance when cold and none when above cutoff temp. Room temp is well above cutoff and use ice water to see if it closes.

We have a 2 door LG refreidgerator.(2 years) We can see the freezer is cooling but nor cool air coming into the refridgerator compartment what would be the problem.

Hi!!

Check your temp. settings, Sometimes we move the controls by accident. Also check the fan in the freezer, make sure it is woriking properly, this fan is the one that blows cool air into fridge compartment.

Good Luck!!

Freezer cool but not freezing

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models they don't have the timer but an electronic device which replaces the timer.

Frigidaire stand up frost proof w/ temp alarm / 98' model. Compressor running, no power problem. Removed interior panel and found that evaporator coils not getting cool. When switch for alarm is pushed on...

If your compressor is running with no freon, It should be very hot. Check if it is. And if it is and the freon has leaked out. Then you must find the leak in the system before you add more freon. If you dont this will be an ongoing problem. The freon will leak out after any length of time. This is a very hard task to find the leak, and you will be money ahead to buy another if you dont find the leak than to re charge every year or so.

Our refridgerator is no longer cooling.

Is it not cooling at all? Like you to try a few things to help locate the problem. Look inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are and try to turn the defrost timer clockwise. May be hard to find but inside the controls panel where light and thermostat are located look for a small opening or plastic plug about the size of a pencil. Turn the timer by putting pencil eraser or something big enough to turn it until you hear a click and the refrigerator stops running or if the refrigerator compressor begins to run. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze
