Somewhere on the Web to go to show detailed installions of rg6 cable ends put on.

I am installing an off the air cable line, I checked the cable before installion and checked good. I shortened the cable by cuting it off and puting a new end on it. It shows shorted now, so I didnot put the cable end on right. so is there anywhere on the Web that shows detailed installion of an rg6 end being put on. Marshall

No signal on my starview s2828+ box

Three things here the unit the cable or the LNB.
Simple things first Cable
Check the satellite plugs on Both ends are correctly fitted and there is no shorting of the core central cable and the shield. Check the cable with a meter put a loop( connect core to shield at one end) on the other end and check resistance.
2. Unit
Check your unit with a know good setup a friends perhaps.
3. LNB the unit on the arm of the dish
You should be able to get a signal from the LNB with a alignment meter. or replace with known good to test

hope that helps

I have a pincushion problem on the screen , what causes this and how can it be fix?

Not sure what a pincushion problem is? If you mean it pixalates and/or seizes up, runs, you may need to re-peak the dish signal by repointing it, reinstall the dish, if trees or something else is partly blocking signal to the dish. Some transponders on the satellites are much weaker than others. Check signal on the transponder you have the most problems, go to install satellite to check signal. Even rain and snow on the dish or in the air can degrade the picture. Another problem can be caused by used old cable tv wire to bring signal in for the dish. Newer receivers require much more bandwidth that requires good quality RG6 cable coax wire. Even roosting birds can cause problems.. Make sure there is no snow on the dish.

Burned cable coming to receiver VIP722K and receiver not working. Did not harm splitter or trip surge protector, or trip electrical box, and no problem with Blu Ray or Harman/Kardon receiver. Licenced...

What seem's to be the problem? Was this a lightning strike? Voltage over COAX sometimes, many times, damages the thin copper zinc coating that is wrapped around the solid steel core. Analog signal can run just fine over this, but digital cannot. All coax lines could be compromised. Sometimes it will carry a digital signal temporarily and with pixelation, but most of the time it will not support a signal. Installer? Give me more information please and don't forget to rate me.

Satellite signal "lost" after digital changeover

RG6 is the standard, as opposed to RG59 cable. The new cable would not cause the problem to start or continue.

Who was the tech who came out to your home? A Dish Network tech? And left the site with it still not working?

Resetting, unplugging the receiver, and having all those parts replaced... yeah that almost sums up everything that could be done with the exception of replacing the receiver itself.

It's rediculous that you have been dealing with this problem THAT long. Call Dish Network, give them a recap, and tell them your going to cancel and go with DirecTV if they don't fix the problem. Then speak to a supervisor if you get a rep that doesn't seem to care.

All else fails, go Direct. Better customer service, more HD.... that's what I have!

TV ''Dish'' not working on second TV

check sat in cable, if cracks or breaks in line can cause sfss. also on back of receiver you want to make sure that sat in cable has a little copper wire sticking straight up and that its getting a good connection on the back of the receiver.

My Motorola DCT6200 Flashing Hunt & a series of F's & Numbers.

motrola 6200 fllashing hunt and when i reset i get E609, according to customer service that provided me with this box, they say the box is diffective and that something is wrong internaly, i'm a cable technician myself and after every test known to us my cable is new, minimum resitance im getteing great levels to my box. i have to beleve custumer service at this point and swaped the box, softboot(unplug power) and hardboot(unplug power while holding down power+select and while still holding the two buttons plug in power and wait till the front of the disply to blink 0000 usualy takes 5seconds after you plug it in, once blinking 0000 release buttons.) after a hardboot you need to call the service provider to re-initialise the box, make sure its not just a zap,(re-initialising means removing the serial number from the account and re-entering it just like the first time its installed) if this does'nt fix it, you need to change it, if it does great. if not you need another box. 90% of the problems issued on motorola 6200,6208,3416 boxes a hard boot will fix, note pvr's and dualtunners will loose saved movies and shows on the harddrive when hardbooted. this will also work in desired conditions, meaning your cable is rg6 cable. not damaged or bent severely, no store splitters, you need a splitter made for digital equipment, meaning there is a electonic board inside, cheap splitters are just sauded together and the communication is not well transfered.. if there is no reason for the cable to have suffered any damage, connectors are properly done, and spitters are provided from the cable company. then its your box.

hope this helps everyone that ever experienced this in the future.

Wavy lines and jogging TV picture

it could be any of the things you listed, the coaxial output on the dvr, where it says channels 3-4 out, the cable , or the coaxial input port on your tv. the dvd player is probably hooked up with rca cables (red white and yellow) so the reason you dont have the issue with it is because its on a different port, one solution would be to hook your receiver up to the tv using this kind of cable, this would also get you stereo sound, you would then watch dish network programming on a video input channel,
if you want to narrow the problem down, i would suggest hooking a vcr up with the cable thats connected to 3-4 out, play a tape and see if the issue continues, if not the issue is with the dvr, if so try a different coax cable, if this resolves the issue, the issue was the cable, if not unfortunately the issue is your tv

I would suggest to check the RG6 cable connections on the LNB and the receiver and make sure they are tight, also the dish may have lost the alignment and that is why you have low signal.
If you use some sort of switch in between the dish and the receiver, I would say to by-pass it and connect it directly.
Good Luck.

Direct tv cable

ok if its only the rf cable and the ac cord yes you can do it your have one cable out from the sat reciver going to the dish. Find an area that the pooch didnot chew through cut off the bad part of the wire. find the wire that goes to the tv set. if its the coax disconnect from the reciver on both sides and go to the store and buy a new cable (unless you have coax wire and know how to put on f fittings) also while your there buy a small extenstion for the other cable you cut. also your gonna need a a female barrel connector as we;ll as an rg6 type rf fitting for the end you cut. have the guy at the store explain to ya how to put on a f fitting. If the ac cord was chewed buy a simple cheap extenstion cord too. Go home and first put back on the cable you took off the output of the sat reciver and the other end to your tv set. then put on the f fitting the guy explained to ya how to put on and then install the barrel connector then the short extention wire to the other side of the barrel connector then the other end of the rxtenstion cable to the sat output. Now if the power cord is chewed im surprised the pooch is not fryed!!!lol Simply cut off the bad part take the extention cord and cut of the end you dont need take off about 1 and a 1/2 inches of the insulation on bothe parts(reciver and cord) twist together and tape separatly or use wire nuts on them . then you are good to go. BUt one more little thing are you using video cables between the tv and the sat. reciver?? well why didnt you say so LOL simplyu pull out of both ends and go to rat shack or something like them and buy an inexpensive pair of cables and remeber yellow is always video red is alway right audio and white is left audio Hope this clears things up for ya.!!!!
