Question about HP Compaq nc6220 Notebook

1 Answer

Hp 6220's freeze up until a little pressure is applied..

I have 3 different hp compaq 6220's all three with the same problem. Freezes up until I press down a little over the hard drive next to the mouse after I pressed down a little on it everything works fine. So if I lighten the pressure over the hard drive it freezes again. It is not the hard drive have tried several different systems with these hard drives on these three and no problems on any other system but these. Saw a forum were they said you would have to short out something on the board but I can not find the forum anymore.. VERY FRUSTATED THANKS........

Is your hard drive installed properly? It may be that the connection pins are not making good contact.

Remove the hard drive and reinstall it. It may solve the problem.

It might possibly be the motherboard circuitry, however, if it were I would imagine that the computer would show an error message on boot-up during POST.

Were the computers dropped or somehow bumped hard?

    Dear HP Freezing Problem facer
your Hard drive is loose. Just place a folded thick piece of paper under the hard disk and reinstall the hard drive and screw it. This will fix your problem. INSHAALLAH

My Compaq V2000 beeps twice & freezes

It sounds like the RAM is either not compatable or is bad. Put the old RAM back in and try again. Also the V2000 and HP DV2000 is in recall for mother board problems.

HP Compaq d530 CMT Desktop Freezes after a while

Is it like that before? If not then probably, a failing component, a short, most likely RAM card (when you happened to check its rated capacity getting low), connection problem.

Also, too much running applications at the same time, hard drive getting almost full, virus. Or borderline hardware specification for installed application.

Check the easiest first. Is this virus? is hard drive getting full? Borderline specification? Add on card contact dirty? Ailing component?

hope it helps

Computer freezes...but not in the normal manner

The intel chip that is under the touch pad is the culprit. If you open the laptop by removing the keyboard, you will notice the chip just under the cover. i have tried putting pressure on it with an eraser and got some results. Mackay Rigava
