My cub cadet 18m lost power while mowing. Thought it was out of gas. Found the governor return spring laying on the mower deck. Can't figure out how to reconnect it

First of all I am a lady with no small gas engine experience. I had already found this blow up myself. Makes sense that one end of the spring goes on that arm shaped piece, but where do I connect the other end to. Everything I try either has the engine running at to slow a speed or racing

Alright, first off, here is a full schematic of the lawnmower
http://www.cubcadet.info/Manuels/2007/LAWN_MOWERS/OWNERS/CC500-11A-18MC010_Ow_07.pdf

On page number 24, part 27 should be what you are talking about. Please first make sure you aren't missing any of the other parts around it that it connects to as shown in the diagram. From the diagram you should then be able to see how it connects.

Let me know how this works out.

Alright, the two parts circled go together, the spring goes through that hole circled and connects to the bottom of that arm that is oval shaped. Possibly your spring is stretched and needs to be replaced if it isn't running correctly which can happen very easily if it fell off. The spring is cheap, so replace it then if it still doesn't work. Let me know if I am not being clear enough and I will try better.

Wh;y does my cub cadet 1554 tractor mower lose power when engaged?

  • Does deck turn freely? Check and be sure mowing deck is not jammed or bad bearing etc. If nothing is wrong with deck, then check fuel filter, air cleaner element, dirty fuel system, bad gas, water in fuel, restricted fuel flow. Lack of fuel will cause engine to have lack power.

Replaced blades on LT 1018 series and the blades are making a grinding noise. Followed operators manual instructions, purchased proper replacement parts. can you help?

You did what you were supposed to do, new blades, proper installation, and you were happy with what you thought was going to be a good outcome. The problem is that the new blades are hitting the deck area. Old blades ware down , your mower deck was bumping into stuff . Now you have to go under with a hammer and hammer back the dents where the blades are hitting. You did very well to start, but now to finish you have to do a little bit more. You will be mowing again in no time. Good luck.

The pto on my cub cadet 1515 cuts off. It will

Mine does the same thing. I've found that normally this is a heat-related problem and by removing all the clippings from the deck the blades will re-engage just fine until (unless) the clippings mount up again. Hope this helps; I make sure the deck is clean top and bottom before I mow.

Cub cadet model LT1045 belt coming off the pulley for cutting deck?

FINAL SOLUTION TO FIX THE BELT FROM COMING OFF LT1045 WHILE MOWING!

I also had this issue with my LT1045 belt. However, I just figured out how to finally fix / re-engineer my LT1045 Cub Cadet from having issues with the belt coming off of the deck while mowing.

Taking it back into a shop for repairs will not work, the belt will just come off again the first time you mow. I am making a YouTube Video to help others like me with this mower issue and will post a link here soon showing how to fix this design flaw.

It took me about an hour to fix but I've got it working now with no problems, minimum vibrations and belt is running cool now! I've gone for 2 months with no problems now. Check back soon for the link!! I expect I will have the video tutorial finished within a week!!
