I need to replace the CD Drive (is that what it's called?) on my Dell Inspiron 1545. Problem is - I can't figure out how to remove the old, original one. I've read that it's supposed to just slide out...

Hi kevin_mills5,

Welcome to FixYa! How are you doing?

I checked the Service Manual for Dell Inspiron 1545 and here is what i found in removing the CD Drive:
  • Remove the screw that secures the optical drive to the computer base.
  • Using a plastic scribe or screwdriver, push the optical drive out of the bay.

You can view the Sevice Manual of Dell Inspiron 1545 by clicking here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1545/en/index.htm

Hope that helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

I have Dell Inspiron 1545 win 7, the eject bottom is not working, so please solve this problem if you don't mind.

You can try reloading drivers for the CD Rom or open ( my computer ) on your deck top or in start menu. Right click the (D:) drive, there will be an option in the drop down menu to eject drive.

Please rate if helpful.

I cannot remember my bios password for inspiron 1545

Dell Inspiron BIOS Password Recovery

Each Dell Inspiron has a master password which will clear the BIOS
password. You can get this number by calling Dell Technical Support at
(800)624-9896.

Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express
Service Code from the bottom of your Inspiron.

If you were not the original owner of the Inspiron, Dell will transfer
registration of the used Inspiron from the original owner with only
the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the tag on the laptop.

To transfer the registration of a used Dell Inspiron, fill out the
Transfer of Ownership form on Dell's web site.

Hope it would help..
