Do you have the system recovery disc? If you have it, boot up the CD and follow the few simple confirmation prompts and options. If you don't have the recovery disc, you can order one from Dell for around $20. They probably will ask for the serial number. Good luck and please feel free to ask me if you have more questions.

    OK, then try this:

Turn on the computer. Right after you see the Dell logo, press
several times to get to the Advanced Boot Options Window. If you see option 6 "Dell Factory Image Restore", you are in luck. Just select 6 to restore your system.

If you don't have option 6, you best bet is to restore from an external DVD drive. It is quite complex to prepare the USB hard drive to work as a recovery drive.

You need to get a Recovery CD for your model laptop from Dell. Boot up with this Recovery CD and follow the instructions.
You can get this Recovery CD from the Dell WEB site.
To get the correct model Recovery CD use the Service Tag number, it is on the label that is attached to the bottom of the laptop.

Hi There,

For a Dell you'll want a Dell Windows Operating System Disc. XP, or Vista. Turn on the 'puter and insert the disk. Power off. Power back on and as soon as you press the power button begin pressing F12 repeatedly. This will take you to a One Time Boot selection menu. Choose CD/DVD and hit enter. You'll then see "Press any key to boot from CD". Do so immediately and away you go.

Regards,

Selk

Dell Latitude D620 Full System Recovery?

It's easy to miss the point at which you hit Ctrl + F11. You need to hit Ctrl + F11 at the point you see the blue bar across the top of the screen, it will display www.dell.com. If this is still not working you can use the XP operating system CD to reinstall XP and the Dell drivers CD to reinstall the sound, video, network and other drivers. If Dell didn't send you the operating system CD, you should contact them.

Factory restore for latitude c400

Hello,

If you hit F11 you will get the restore option. Once this runs it will ask you whether you want to restore (which will keep your existing personal files) or format the drive to bring it back to factory settings, just as you received it without your added programs or files. You can cancel at any time before the format takes place, because formatting will erase everything before loading your new operating system. Hope this helps you.......
