Hi, follow the below steps to reset the router:

At the back of the router you will find a small tiny hole (which has a small button inside it). Press the button with the help of a paper clip. and hold it down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, please release the button and power off the device for 5 seconds.

Now connect the modem to the internet port on the router and check the light on it.

If the light is out or red, then you are not getting any power or you might have a power supply problem. In most cases a red light on the modem or router indicates hardware problems. You can purchase a new power supply for it. It could be the modem is bad, the question is, do you still have an internet connection? If so, it is probably a faulty light or power sensor, and the cost of a new modem or power supply may not be worth the effort. If you do not have internet connectivity, then you have a totally seperate issue and then you should call your ISP and ask them about your internet connection. It could be your internet is down or they have line problems. It may also be that you are plugged in to a multi outlet strip and you should try plugging it in directly to the wall.

I have not used my laptop for a while and when i came to use it my wireless connection wont work i have a netgear virgin system installed.


Check in the device manager if your computer is seeing the wireless card driver.
Right click my computer, properties, hardware, device manager,network adapters.
Is the wireless card listed?
If it is right click uninstall and reboot on reboot the wireless card should be seen as new hardware follow the wizard and let it install the driver.
If the computer is seeing the card but it has a yellow mark next to it the driver is not loaded you need to get the appropriate driver for that type of card from it's support site or once again try the uninstall reboot.
That’s the wireless card.
Is the net-gear showing an internet connection.
Put a cat 5 cable from your laptop to the net-gear and try to connect via cable if that works it's got to be the wireless card driver or the wireless settings in the net-gear however if they worked previously there is no reason to suspect the router settings.

Xbox shows on computer but xbox says pc not listed


Had the same problem found but from the start. Had to reinstall windows and check connectivity before installing norton. Then installed norton and it blocked it. just changed firewall settings so ip matched xbox as an allowed sharing device and it worked ok. But it would not do it before i reinstalled windows. a bit extreme but it worked. Now i can read all but my video files after a week of it working fine.lol

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings Step 7: test the Internet connection.
