As 'sweer_rascal' describe the sony must bee in the play back mode.

Did you install the 'moviemaker' software that came with the sony cam? By the way witch sony cam model?

One thing i had problems with when i forst installed my sony, where the usb connection. I use firewire today. It works fine with windows 2000, xp professional sp2, and vista home edition.

(My sony is model dcr-hc42e from 1½ year old, but think it is the same interface)

    happy holiday

;) /michael why pay when you can play

Sony digital handycam

You have Vista, don't you.. That´s the problem. Microsoft neglected Sony making Vista. It doesn't support practically no Sony stuff.
