How do I fix a flat screen tv that powers down within seconds of powering up?

The ballast may be going out. That is the board that the lamp wires connect to.. The power supply board may have a few components starting to fail as well.

INFOCUS Lamp replacement

chances are its the projector itself that you are having an issue with, one more thing that you can do is for you to clean the filters, try cleaning the filters and try reinstalling the lamp, then power it back on, if you are getting the same thing still, have the projector service or if within warranty have it replaced. best i got. HOW DO I RESET THE LAMP TIMER ON A SONY KDF55WF655

Procedure for resetting your lamp timer,

Use the Remote Commander to put the set into service mode to display the service menus.

1. TV must be in standby mode (Power off).
2. Press the following buttons on the Remote commander within a second of each other: DISPLAY ==> Channel 5 ==> Volume + ==> POWER. The first service menu (TV) displays.

To reset the Lamp Timer:
1. Press the JUMP button 3 times on the remote to get to the Panel OSD mode.
2. Next press the remote channel 2 button 9 times to get to the Lamp Timer mode.
3. Press the remote 3 button, mute, then enter to reset the timer to zero.

It will take 45-50 seconds for the timer to reset. After the timer is reset you can shut the TV off. The lamp timer will remain reset (no need to save).

RCA M50WH72S Replaced bulb and ballast. TV comes on with good video for about 5 seconds, then off with good audio, front power light blinks 5 times. After a few minutes the video comes back on and repeats...

Check capacitors cp624, cp647 1000uf@35v each. They are in the power supply. Can be seen with bulge on the top. Seems to be a common problem with this model RCA.

Replaced lamp now projecter will not turn on hd70

I had a similar situation, but we fixed it.  I can't exactly tell you why it worked nor whether or not it will for you.  Here's the deal.
First, take your lamp out and re-seat it.  This is one of the easiest ways to get a projector not to power up.
In our case, the thing would fire up, show us the Optoma logo, the blue screen, and then within about 15 seconds, it shut down, lamp fail light came on, and only a hard power reset would let us try again.  The bulb was good; after all, it came on, right?
So, we kept playing this game of power up, fail, unplug, replug.  I gave up and went to do something else.  I came back to the projector, needing it to let me see a screen to configure (weird I know, but that's how it was).  Anyhow, at this point, the projector stayed on, no problems.  So, I kept it running through the night with a kitchen timer on.  After 5 1/2 hours without failure, we knew we were set.
The point?  If it's powering up and showing picture for even a brief period, try cycling it several times.  However, if it's overheating or showing any other signs of distress, you may make it worse using my approach.  I think we may have just been lucky or the projector gnomes came in the night.

Reseting the lamp timer. Error message saying: 'Change Lamp' on Hitachi CP-5X 5600 projector. A new lamp has already been changed but we cannot get rid of the message which appears on the projected screen...

How do you reset the lamp hours counter?” and “How do you get into the service menu?” I don’t know if the service menu is a big secret or not, but since I’m not the first to publish this, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
For those inclined to get into service mode on DLP TVs, simply turn your system off, then use the remote and press the following buttons with about .5 to .75 seconds delay between presses: MUTE-1-8-2-POWER.
Once in the service menu, select the bottom item, Options, and from there you can reset the lamp counter.
I’ve never played with any of these settings. I’d strongly caution against any “curiosity tweaks” in there.
I turn on the set, it tries to turn on the lamp, but gives up after several attempts and several seconds. Finally it ends up with three blinking lights
I think the most common cause of this problem is a faulty lamp. If you have replaced the lamp, or otherwise have reason to believe that it is not the lamp, it may be the ballast (the thing that starts up the lamp). You can purchase a ballast at a good price at partstore.com. (approx $140 vs. $180 at samsungparts.com)

Hope this may help;

Compaq MP2800 Lamp powers down after a few seconds

Hi Wayne

It is normal for the lamp's fan to start running , but should actually happen within 15 seconds of starting up. Try changing the lamp's fan and if the problem still persists then you will have to replace the Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )
