This actually just happened to me as well. Was working fine this morning, just noticed it is now blinking red and blue. The HD seems very cool; I've checked connections as well and everything seems fine.

Same thing here. The unit was unplugged by mistake while on and now it only flashes blue and red. My PC can't find it. I've tried letting it sit for a day, unplugging everything, resetting the PC and still the flashing lights mock me. Is there any way to get to my files?

Same thing here.. Flashing red & blue light but will not boot up. Seems no one has found a solution yet either.

I had this EXACT same problem. Blinking blue light and the hard drive never powers on. VERY frustrating...I have a home studio was in danger of losing over a year's worth of original music. However, this problem has a solution which I read about on this site:

"The problem was with the power source not the actual drive so I ended up pulling the drive out of the case and purchasing a new case from Newegg.com. It now works fine and only cost about $30 to fix."

This is EXCELLENT advice and FixYa is the only place I read about this solution. Though I'm no newbie with computers, I certainly had never swapped out an external hard drive. But, in 30 minutes for about $30, this problem is TOTALLY SOLVABLE. I went to newegg.com and ordered this product:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

an external Azio hard drive enclosure. Because I always used Firewire hard drives, I got an enclosure that accepted Firewire---however, many others are available with just USB 2.0. Following the directions that came with the enclosure, I removed my blue-light blinking, non-functional hard drive from its enclosure and placed it into the Azio. Now, the unit is working fine. No data was lost and the Azio drive seems to be working properly.

THIS IS A FANTOM HARDWARE PROBLEM---NOT SOFTWARE PROBLEM! I encourage the MANY people who have complained about Fantom drives and gotten no assistance to try this solution and avoid Fantom in the future.

To whoever posted this solution: thanks a million. You made my day.

I can confirm EdieS' fix. I did exactly as described in his post and it works perfectly now.

    THANKS!

Yes! I did what EddieS recommended and voila! Back in service and data saved! Got the Azio enclosure for 26.99 plus tax & shipping from Newegg. Thank You So Very Much!

I started having the blinking red-blue light problem from Monday. Does Edies solution, posted on Apr 06, 2008, solve this problem? Please confirm. Thanks in advance.

had the same issue with my fantom drive 120 GB Drive. I decided on the StarTech InfoSafe 3.5 with USB and FireWire capabilities. Also, try to stay away from the 4 prong DC adapter. It appears to be the culprit, bent prongs. This StarTech has a single prong. Easy install.

    Thanks for posting.

I took the advice and replaced the case with an external Azio hard drive case (the one linked by EdieS) and it worked right away. So incredibly easy to install, too. Turned a 5lb paperweight back into 150GB of storage space! Thanks a bunch for all the helpful information.

Do NOT trust the company that makes or services Fantom Hard Drives. I had the same problem: Red and Blue blinking light, no hard drive mount on any of my Macs.

I looked the company up on line. My first clue that I was in for a bad experience should have been their website, which looks very late 90s or early 00s (great idea for a tech related company to have such an outdated website, huh?).

But I called the customer service number, anyway. The outgoing message was in the same voice as the "service representative" who ultimately answered my call. "This company is run by one guy," I'm thinking.

I began to describe the problem and he was very rude! Even though I started out by telling him that one of one of my hard drives by Fantom had a red and blue blinking light and I couldn't access my data, he played dumb and pretended that he didn't understand that data retrieval was the goal of my phone call: "*Heavy annoyed sigh*....well, that sounds like hard drive failure to me, isn't that what it sounds like to YOU?" he said, "Have I answered all your questions??? Are we done here?" I'm not making this up!!!

I had to spell it out for him, and then I *pry* instructions out of him about how I needed to proceed. He said to fill out the online customer service request. I did so. A full *two days later* (!!!) I received an email saying that my product had suffered hard drive failure (mind you, he hadn't actually *seen* it yet, this was simply based on the description I wrote on line). The email also said that I needed to send it in for service and assume an expenditure for diagnostic service and "full product replacement."

At that point, I decided to go on the web and search for a DIY solution. I saw the solutions posted here about putting the drive in a new enclosure. I ordered a new enclosure for about 30 bucks. When it arrived, it took me 10 minutes to replace it and, sure enough, the hard drive mounted and has been working fine ever since! Just for the heck of it, since I already had my data back (and backed up), I put the drive back in its original enclosure and sent it to the company for service. I wanted to see what they would tell me. Wouldn't you know that within two weeks I received notification that my unit had suffered "total hard drive failure" and that I needed to pay them service and full replacement cost? I told them o keep it and forget about "full product replacement."

In short, this company (or perhaps *this one guy*) tried to scam me.

I just ran into this problem, and glad to find the solution here.
I was very frustrated because this hard drive has about 6 years of my family photos, and I needed some baby photos for my son's school project.
I will try this solution as suggested here, and I hope it will work.

Having the same issue, but with the 200GB version. At first it would blink red/blue for a minute or so and then kick on, but every day it went longer and longer. Now it's been blinking for 4 hours with no recognition. Guess I waited one day too long to back up the files on it.

Same thing for me. Some times it would catch and spin but now....it wont at all. POS!!!

My O2 Atom on normal mode binks in blue colour and there is a missed call or sms blinks in orange (or red). from yesterday it blinks in green on normal mode. Can you please tell me why? Anything wrong?

The notification lights indicate:
Blinking Blue - Bluetooth On
Blinking Yellow - WiFi On
Blinking Green - GSM (Phone) On
Blinking Red - Unread message
Continuous Red - Charging

Blinking green when your GSM (phone) is on is the expected behavior.

The top light of the two is flashing green/red back and forth very fast and the light on the bottom is a solid red. how do I fix this so that way it will work normally

The steady lower light indicates the unit needs a new toner cartridge, MLT-D108S. Did you previously see this light blinking or blinking rapidly? (Those indicate the toner being low.) Replace the cartridge and check for any other error lights. Turn off the machine and let it cool. Then open the front cover and pull the old toner cartridge. Open the package with the new cartridge, remove the packing tape and paper that protects the cartridge and gently shake it (avoid touching the blue or green parts of the OPC drum). Press the cartridge into the slot until it is fully seated. Close the front cover.

The green/red blinking power light is not one I'm seen before. The printer indicates a non-toner failure (open cover, no paper, LSU failure, etc.) with a steady red light.

Blue light flashing light, red light on

The flashing means that the toner and/or the imaging drum is empty or missing (printing halts on these errors). Lights on steady means low toner.

Steady blue light, blinking lights doesn't heat up

I read in another posted solution about a magnet in the grey float that is in the water reservoir. I removed the grey float and rubbed on the front of the unit by the steady blue light and it apparently resets the sensor. Presto Magic! it worked! Machine back to normal and operating perfectly.

Clean contact points of both battery and charger with q-tips dipped in rubbing alcohol. This solved my problem with blinking lights and not charging of the batteries.
