Im not a genius or anything but i have nokia pc suite and i cant drag files to my phone either. i usually just plug the memory card into the computer and it comes up as a memory card with the images and video clips folders etc. im pretty sure its faster than the usb cable. you could also buy a usb infrared thing but they are very slow to transfer files. so if you really want to use your usb cable then this question wouldnt've helpd. thanks. First make sure you have the correct USB drivers for your phone installed on your pc. Go to device manager and see if your phone or mass storage device is listed. If not, download the drivers here, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads. Make sure debugging on your phone is enabled. Please refer to the following:

  1. To set the Samsung Galaxy S2 to USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode, go into "Settings > Applications > Development" and enable "USB debugging".

  2. Then drag the status bar down and tap on "USB connected".

  3. The "USB connected" screen with the large green Android icon will appear. Tap on "Connect USB storage".

A confirmation dialog box will appear. Tap "OK". The green Android icon will turn orange, indicating that the phone is now in USB Mass Storage mode and should now appear as USB disk drives in "Devices with Removable Storage" and be assigned drive letters.

Connection for cellph to laptop

Music, movies, photos and more can be stored on the micro Secure Digital memory card on your Samsung Galaxy S phone.
To get all those goodies on the microsSD card you need to transfer them from your computer. Connecting your Galaxy S to your computer is done with the USB cable that was included with the phone and doubles as the charging cable when plugged into the outlet adapter that also came with the phone

Plug the large end of the micro USB cable into your computer and the small end into the USB port on the top of your Galaxy S phone.
Wait for your computer to recognize the phone.
Press the "Power" button on the top right side of your phone, briefly.
Unlock the phone by dragging the padlock icon to the top of the screen.
Drag the notification pane down by touching the top of the screen and dragging your finger to the bottom.
Touch the "USB Connected" notification and then press the "Mount" button.
Your phone's microSD card will appear to your computer like an external drive.
Click on the "Start" button on your computer and then click on "Computer."
Double-click the drive icon that corresponds to your Galaxy S phone.
This will open a folder that shows the contents of your phone's microSD card.
You can copy files to and from the folder like you would any other folder on your computer.

Click the "USB Device" icon in the task tray of your computer.
Click "Eject USB Device."
Wait until you're done transferring files before ejecting the phone from the computer.

Unlock your phone and drag down the notification area.
Tap the "USB Connected" notification and press "Disconnect."
You can now safely unplug your phone.

Download from lg800g to computer

Is your Micro USB cable a "B" or "A"?Micro USB "B" is for data/charging.
Micro USB "A" is for charging only and will not work for any kind of data transfer (pins not connected).
The connector will be labeled at the micro usb end.
When you plug the cable into your phone a popup will ask you if you want to connect to mass storage. Once you answer yes, you can connect to the phone just like a usb drive.

Laptop or phone don't recognize connection

I had the same issue, however what I DID notice up on top was a USB Connected - the USB icon. I pulled that notification up and it asked me to connect. The exacts are:

1. Plug the USB cable into the computer
2. Plug the USB cable into the phone
3. The notification up top corner left will say "USB Connected" with a USB notification icon - BRIEFLY. The text "USB Connected" will quickly disappear, but the icon is still in the left corner.
4. Pull down the notification andyou'll see "USB Connected - Select to copy files to/from your computer" - Select that notification
5. Notification "USB Connected - You have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select "Mount" if you want to copy files between your computer and your phone's SD Card." - Select the option "Mount".
6. The "Removable Disk" notification should pop up asking you what you want to do. I select "Open folder to view files".

There is a music folder in there, or whatever else you'd like.

Hope that assists.

LG Secret charging

Dr Know, doesn't know what he's talking about. I have a LG KF750 and have experienced the same problem.

Solution - Really jam the cable into the socket! The connection is pretty rubbish. The phone charging icon will (with some force and wiggling) appear on screen. Then carefully put it down and don't touch it!

USB charges very slowly, if charging from a dead flat battery it may take a good 20mins of charging to boot up.

P.S. the red camera light is not supposed to come on when charging. Keep wiggling the cable and the light will go off when the phone charging icon appears.

Can't download photo's onto computer

Are you connecting your phone as a Mass Storage Device?

  1. From the home screen, attach one end of the Motorola Original Enhanced USB cable to your phone and the other end to a USB port on your computer.
  2. On your phone, press Yes to use the phone as a portable USB storage device.
Note: When connected as a storage device the phone cannot perform regular phone activities. Disconnect to resume normal operation.
  3. On the PC, open the My Computer window and find where your phone displays as a Mass Storage icon.
Double click the Mass Storage Device icon.
  4. Drag and drop files between your computer and phone.
  5. When finished, remove the phone safely from your computer. Right click the "Safely Remove Hardware"
icon at the bottom of your computer screen, then select "USB Mass Storage Device" and click Stop.
  6. Select USB Mass Storage Device and click OK.
Now it is safe to disconnect the cable. When the cable is disconnected, the phone restarts

Trouble with usb

This may not be any help, but I had the same problem with my MP3 player and it was the cable that was buggered. I bought a new one & all is good again. The old cable can still be used for charging, but not for data transfer. Don't know why.
