Kenmore 80 series electric dryer. does not start. hold the start button in and the only thing that happens is the timer makes a sound like an electric clock running. happened suddenly. one load ran...

it sounds like the thermal fuse is bad...The back cover needs to come off, but first UNPLUG
If you have a multi-meter set to ohms and test the little bullet shaped fuse in lower area on rear back. It sets alittle left above and up from rear vent it should have two wires going to a small bullit shaped fuse being held on with one screw.. check with meter and if bad you can touch wires together and this will start stops dryer if it senses lack of air flow..they usually go bad if your vent is somewhat blocked , or totally blocked...usually before this might have to put your clothes in twice to dry them.. The wires can be insulated together so they do not touch metal..this will allow machine to run, but , you want to figure out why and correct this problem as welll ....sometimes, they just go bad.

Dryer will not start

Check the door switch. It acts as a safety and will not allow the machine to start. The Thermal fuse just keeps the heat form coming on.

When i push the start button it doesnt work

You need to check the thermal fuse. It is located just inside the rear of the dryer and is usually mounted on the exhaust duct. It is about one inch long and can be tested for continuity with an ohm meter or multimeter. If it doesn't have continuity, then it is defective and must be replaced. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Dryer Won't Start

Make sure it has power. Then:Check the door switch. A little lever sticking down through top right of door opening. If it is not there you will need new door switch(sometimes the little lever breaks off). If it is there and does not click when you press it in you need a new door switch. if it clicks when you close the door then you have a bad thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is found by taking the back of the dryer off. The fuse is an oblong white plastic piece with 2 wires attached.

Door switch part number 3406109
Thermal fuse part number 3392519

Nothing happens when I push the start button on my Gas Dryer

Three things you can check the door switch is it clicking? The thermal fuse you want to make sure there is continuity or worse case would be your motor.

Kenmore gas dryer will not start

Try connecting the wires going to the start button to each other, see if it starts then. You checked the door switch the same way? Thermal fuse or in line resistor?

It may be as simple as a thermal fuse. Some Whirlpool dryers have power for the motor going through the theraml fuse.
