idith, I will assume that your Chimei is a LCD type with CCFL backlighting and not a CRT or PLASMA type. I think that the unit has a thermally intermittant solder connection and /or BAD capacitors on the "switch-mode-power-supply" and or the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" electronic ballast circuit wihch is called the INVERTER circuit. A fault such as this will be detected by the SMPS and will send it into what is known as SHUTDOWN mode to try and save the unit from having a catastrophic,nonrecoverable FAILURE and or FIRE!!! Please have a good Technician evaluate and repair the unit. FYI goto YOUTUBE to view the longer (8-12minute) video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and also "LCD repair" video clips that deal with replacing BAD electrolytic capacitors and poor (frosty) solder joints of printed circuit boards. Sometimes you need a 10x-20x inspection microscope to see thermally intermittant (cracked) solder joints on either top or bottom of printed circuit boards. Yes!
