My Dell PDA won't sync with my PC, although it used to?

1)If you get an error message from ActiveSync on your PC, it's one of a million things that can and do go wrong with another piece of Micr0$0ft'$ "finest". I wont even go there in this post. 2)If it just never gets seen by the PC, check your USB cable connection. 3)If the PDA doesn't even turn on and/or charge immediately when connected to the cradle, you may have a bad cradle. 3a)If the connector in the cradle feels lose or it DOES connect if you hold it a certain way, your cradle's broken. They're known for this.

Dell made an entry into the market of Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) with Axim X5. The Dell Axim comprises of families of X5, X3, X30, X50 and X51. The Dell Axim PDA can be connected to the computer either by using a cradle or a sync cable. The sync cable connects the device to the computer directly. Here are the steps for connecting a Dell Axim to a computer using a sync cable.
  1. p 1 The Microsoft ActiveSync software must be installed in order to connect the PDA to the computer. This software is found in the Dell Axim Pocket PCmag-glass_10x10.gif Companion CD.
  2. Step 2 The Axim X51 PDA has a 36-pin connector, while the X3 has a 22-pin docking connector.
  3. Step 3 Connect the USB connector found at the end of the sync cable to the computer.
  4. Step 4 Check the PDA. If the PDA is not properly cabled to the computer, you will get the following message: “Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle before running the system update. Ensure that ActiveSync is installed on the computer and that the ActiveSync connection is successful.”
  5. Step 5 Ensure that the Dell logo faces upward.
  6. Step 6 Use the sync cable to set up a partnership, which can be done multiple times when you sign in as a guest.

Use Microsoft Active Sync if your PDA is compatible to Microsoft software via a USB cable. If not Microsoft, consult your PDA manufacturer for how to sync.

PDA clock and appointments change at sync by one hour

I am running vista and havent had this problem, as a matter of fact if you have vista you no longer need activesync. Vista comes with a built in software application to sync you PDA, there si no logical solution i can think of that would cause this problem other than your computer may need to be updated, and also vista will update all the drivers for the dell x30 as well, just make sure it is able to do all updates, not just microsoft ones.

I assume you use activesync. Check in the options that it is set to synchronise this data. if you have already done this try reinstalling activesync or installing the newest version, 4.0.

Connecting Axim plus Palm on the Same PC

I may be wrong but each PDA (assuming you are connecting different brands) have different drivers. I connected a Toshiba and Dell PDA and each required their respective install disk with their respective drivers. Then I configured each pda using the Active Sync Connection Wizard. Everything ran smoothly after that.
