It is eather the filter is dirty or the high limit pressure switch is out..Clean the filter if that doesnt work remove the front door and youl see a theromstat looking switch on the left side in the middle take the two wires off of the switch and jump with a wire and turn on the heater if it fires and runs replace switch..........problem solved

misfires are for faulty electrics ---plugs, HT leads, distributor coils ECM but they are also from low fuel pressure , faulty injectors, faulty injector wiring
now you say at 5300 rpms is at the top end range so items to check are the fuel pressure ( should be at around 55-65 psi constant) fuel flow (filters , EVAP venting problem
Plugs with excessive gap, Low quality HT leads or faulty leads --excessive resistance is stopping spark at high pulses
ignition control module --failing at high cycles and coil or coils not good enough to handle the high cycles
If you have a distributor , then it may be worn bushes in the distributor that is initiating the misfire by not running true in the housing causing the rotor button to be missing spark for certain leads

Furnace gas valve is not opening


YOUR FURNACE IS IN LOCKOUT MODE DUE TO A SAFETY FEATURE OF UNIT. USUALLY THE HIGH LIMIT HAS BEEN TRIPPED, OR YOU PRESSURE SWITCH FROM DRAFT INDUCER MOTOR FAULTY OR PLUGGED. IT WILL CONTINUE LOCKOUT MODE UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.

My ac unit will come on for a minute then turn off for a minute, it keeps repeating this action. What is the problem?


Check the refrigerant pressures. it may be turning off from low or high pressure limits with automatic resets. If you have a digital thermostat, there is a programming function in the installation instructions for setting the AC cycles per hour. If the AC is oversized, it will short cycle.

Does not heat as fast as it used to. Has to run for two cycles before it gets warm.


Check for a partially burnt heating element or a faulty high limit thermostat. The high limit thermostat is a round device mounted on a metal plate and is usually attached to the internal ductwork. Check the heating element for any sign of burning or broken wire. It can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a bad heating element. The high limit thermostat can be checked in the same manner. It should have no continuity. I will attach a photo of a thermal cutoff and high limit thermostat for reference. Sounds like it is cycling on high limit; causes are related to water flow through the heat exchanger or a faulty high limit(doubtful given the heater cycles back on). Check the internal bypass for obstructions; has anyone worked on it recently? There are usually two high limit switches with different trip temperatures; installing the wrong one could also be the culprit. Does the heater "bang" before it goes off (a sign that the water is boiling inside the tube bundle)?

H250 cycles on and off pressure is fine. system normal light on. new sand and clear pool. would like to know how to fix problem myself.


I would probably look at your high limit switches first and then at the bypass assembly inside of the header. The bypass controls the heat rise inside the heater. If it is bad, it may heat up too quickly, opening up one of your high limits. That will shut down the heater, once it cools back down, it will start again, and so on and so on.
