Can't get rid of closed caption on-screen. I use remote menu to get closed caption choices and try to select "Off" but it doesn't eliminate the closed caption.

Sharp Liquid Crystal Aquos TV--Model LC 225V2U. I can see "off" on menu for closed caption but can't figure out how to "select" the "off" (using remote or TV). Thanks.

I have been trying to turn text off--options include Select, Enter and Exit (Menu). How do you Enter. I find no button for that. Hitting Menu for exit doesn't help. Thanks.

Brand and model will be needed, it seems like a genearic problem but in reality the solution can be very specific to the tv.

I cant get rid of the picture in picture box off screen with no remote controll?

It sounds that closed caption function is On with your TV. Try to access the close caption On/Off function, by its menu controls and try to set it off. Some TVs wont allow you to do this, even though there is a Menu control on its front panel. To such TVs, a remote control is a must to get rid of this.

How to get rid of closed captioning

If pressing the cc button on the Sharp remote does not turn off the closed captioning then the closed captioning is most likely coming from the cable box or whatever you have connected to this television. You can go into the cable box menu by pressing the menu button on the front when it is turned off. That's right turn off the cable box and then press menu on it to access the hidden menu that includes closed captioning. Scroll down to closed captioning and scroll over to disable. A number of other Directv receivers have the CC located on a "captioning" tab on the "display" page under setup and for dish network:
Setting Closed Captioning:
  1. Press and release the MENU button and then select "Preferences."
  2. Select "Closed Caption."
  3. Select "Caption On/Off."
  4. Select "CC is On."
  5. Select "Done."

When I turn on the TV I see a very large black box and tv is ok behind How do I get rid of Black box area?

This sounds like one of closed caption features, there will be a CC button or menu option to adjust Closed
Captioning - you will need to select the "off" choice and it should remove the box. Once my TV had a similar problem...activated by my cat stepping on the remote.

Why does close-caption appear on screen eac time I turn it on.

On your remote control find the CCD button and press it until you find the option to turn off the closed caption or select the closed caption option to use only when the sound is muted. If this does not eliminate the problem, you may have a switching problem in the control panel.Try turning off your television for a period of time and then turn it on and try resetting the control. If this fails you may want to contact customer service for technical help at 1-877-467-4289. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Closed captioning can come trough 4 sources 3 of them access a digital file and display it to the screen. ALL must be set to off on each device:
Embeded in actual program video source--unlikely your problem.
TV decoder cotrolled by TV menu under "language"
Cable box--ditto for menu selection
