Toshiba satellite pro u300 unexpected shu...

Hi,

I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite Pro U300 with Windows vista business edition. It is docked to an external monitor and keybord using a toshiba dynadock. My problem is, quite oftten it unexpectedly shuts down (maybe it hibernates or sleeps I don't know how to tell the difference) the point is, laptop screen shows a blue screen and after a few seconds both screens go black, the fan stops working, the hard disk does not indicate any activity and no matter what I press I cannot bring it back to active mode (the "on" light stays on). The only thing I can do is press the on button until it turns off and then restart it again. When I do so, it tells me windows had an error and starts on safe mode.

I don't know if it has to do with the docking station or something, but it happens mostly every day and I lose all the data I was previously working on. Please could anyone tell me what is going on? Thank you

-   I have a Toshiba A215, 2 years old, and in the last few months it has started shutting down unexpectedly. Everything shuts down, the pluged-in, power, and battery lights blink together for a few seconds, and when I press the power button to turn it back on, the plugged-in and battery lights blink a few times. After about a minute, I can power the machine back up. -   Guest

-   I have a toshiba satellite a60 and yesterday I had the service pack 3 put on and today when my computer goes into standby mode I can not get it to wake up resulting in my having to restart my laptop. Could this problem be related to the service pack 3 update? -   nlush

First try without the docking station, if the problem still exists, right cllick on the desktop area, click propertys, click screen savers, click power, in the 3 windows on the left "when plugged in" set first window set to never turn off monitor, 2nd never turn off hard drive, 3rd never go into standby. click advanced tab, 1st window enter do nothing, 2nd shut down, 3rd do nothing. click hybernate remove check mark that enables hybernation. I hope my suggestions and the other 3 suggestions fix your problem. BPCS

It sounds like to me that there is a hardware conflict with something you are plugging into you system. What I would do first is pull out any other hardware devices you have hooked up to it, try rebooting you pc with nothing hooked up to it but the bare bone components that came with it, and see if that works, The last time my computer did that it was a hardware issue my wireless card was causing it to do the famous Blue Screen, Do that and see if that solves your problem, I just think its something like that. I sure hope that gets your awful blue screen gone LOL . If not write back here I have more suggestions for you. Ok thanks bear001

You should contact Toshiba as this machine is most likely under warranty.
