HP sends their machines out with a recovery partition already set up on the harddrive; If yours is intact, use the recovery disk provided with the machine (assuming you have it/them) by starting your computer with the HP Recovery Disk in your optical drive.
As a second alternative, or if you have formatted the harddrive and lost the recovery partition, unplug your computer from the wall outlet, open the case, and touch a metal component inside the case for 5 seconds.(equalizing static charge between you and your comp, or 'grounding yourself out'). Locate and remove the bios battery (the flat round one), wait 5-15 minutes, and reinstall the battery. Close your case, plug your computer into wall outlet, and restart your computer. Now your computers' bios defaults will be reset to basic functionality.
Note: Using the second alternative may cause certain onboard functions to cease working; MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUPS FOR ALL OF YOUR DRIVERS!!!
If you are unsure of what your computer has for hardware, before doing either of the above go to:
and download either the self-install.exe file or the standalone version and run it on your machine to give you an overview of hardware drivers you'll require.

I am trying to return my tower to factory setting. It keeps asking for a25 character number.

Are you sure you're back to factory settings? That 25 character number sounds like the Certificate of Authentication (COA) key for the Operating System. Look on the side and back of your computer for the COA Sticker. It tells you what Operating System you have and it will have a series of 5 letters and numbers (25 to be exact) that is the key to validate and activate your operating system.

    Return to factory setting

You usually need to go to back up & restore program that is part of your Sony software and make a factory direct setting this is usually done when you first get your desktop or laptop. Check your system to see if you have this setting on your computer. If not check Sony website search their website for your model and then see if they have software for your model and for all built in hardware. That is why you need to always make backups of everything. I hope that this helps you.

Dell dimension 5150 can not return to factory settings using ctrl f11 error code in recover my computer wizard ec950025. i know nothing about computers

Eversince PC Restore has been put to Dell computers, it has been convinient for home users to reset their computers back to factory settings. This error indicates that the factory image settings pre-stored in the hard drive of your computer is corrupted already. What you need to do is to perform manual reinstallation of Windows. Assuming still have the Recovery Disks for your computer, you may follow the steps from this LINK01.

If this computer was shipped before September 28, 1994, you may take advantage of its Lifetime Phone Support from a Dell Technical Representative. You may double check the shipped date of your computer from this LINK02. Prepare your computer's Service Tag number that can be found at the back your desktop on a white sticker with a barcode on it then call 1-877-293-1197.

If you have lost your Recovery Disks, you may request these CDs by calling 1-877-293-1197.

I hope this works for you. Kindly reply for further assistance. Good Luck!

    Thanks for using Fixya!

How do I clear the BIOS on my s6500NX? Usually this is done with a jumper change and battery removal on a Dell. Not sure how this one works.

The other way is to remove the BIOS battery and let it stand for 20 plus minutes, then insert the BIOS battery back into the computer. The BIOS settings will then be returned to the factory default settings, you then need to go into the BIOS setting and change the Date and Time setting.
