Question about KitchenAid Blenders

1 Answer

Dear Sir/Madam: We've had our KitchenAid Blender Model KSB50B4 since 2007 that I've used to blend everything from Marguaritas to soups. The base has always leaked a bit, BUT last night I was blending soup that had been simmering on the stove & the rotating mechanism that turns the blades melted! Rubber melted into the bottom of the pitcher & the rotater was destroyed! I have NEVER seen this before & have never been under the impression that a blender cannot work with hot liquids of any sort. I only knew that one shouldn't fill the pitcher too full as hot liquids expand. Please help! I am without my blender that was very expensive. Now it's ruined & I am extremely unhappy with this product. Thank you, Mrs. Julie Ladeau

Problem with soup mate, all lights flashing but nothing happening

If this is a Kitchen Aid blender with the flashing lights then you will need to remove the motor base cover and check the motor for a circuit. If it is open circuit then either replace the motor or locate the thermal fuse (under some white tape and aluminium clip on one of the field windings) and either replace or bypass fuse if it is open circuit.

The blades stopped turning in the middle of blending a batch of hummus Its is a Kitchen Aid blender about 10 years old

Does the motor still work if you take the pitcher off of the base? If so, the rod that's in the blade assembly is probably corroded. The blades are connected to a metal rod that passes through a brass tube through to the piece that makes contact with the motor when you put the pitcher on the base. The grease wears down eventually and if you don't pulse and run the motor for a long time at once, the heat can corrode the bar and cause the blade to stop spinning. You can either disassemble the blade unit, or buy a new blade unit online. google blender parts and you can get one for $10
