ok ginko, that sounds like you've hit the nail on the head - i've been going crazy trying to find the logic. i'm connecting to my remote desktop through vpn tunnel and the rdp is bringing the locayl printer with it. if you could explain how do i go about sharing it on the WAN that would be great

OK, great. i think i'll try printershare and see. will get back to you once i've tested, denis

yep, will leave the case open for a day. many thanks though, at least you given me an alternative direction to head in - better than my print server or printer suppliers... denis

That happens because you are not supposed to use remote desktop to print a file on your computer using the printer on remote computer.
When you start printing the file, the file is spooled to the printer. At the same time the file is not completely transferred into the remote pc connected to the printer, and the spooler will loose the part of the file that is still being transferred.
Simply does not use RDP to print file from remote computer, that is not the way it is supposed to be used. If you want to use remotely the printer , share printer IP on the WAN or build a VPN, or a telnet connection.

What to do if after canceling the printing in queue document its status is still showing deleting ?

Give it a few minutes. Sometimes it takes awhile to delete the document.

If that fails, turn off the printer, wait a minute, then turn it back on. The document should be deleted.

Prints last page first

How your printed pages appear is most likely controlled by a print options dialog box.
When you are about to print a document, you often have the option to print immediately (to the default printer) or to view a preview of what the document will look like when printed.
If you choose the preview option, you will usually find that you have many options that can adjust various aspects of your document's appearance.
You can adjust the page margins, the paper orientation (portrait or landscape), the paper size, and probably also the order in which the pages appear.
Note that any options you select at print time will not be 'persistent' (permanent from session to session).
To set persistent print options, you must find the place for your operating system where you can view the way your printer is configured. In Windows, this is done through the Control Panel.
Print options you set for your printer in the Control Panel will become the default for all print jobs until you change them again.
When you get to the options for your printer, take some time to look at the various options. Then you will know what aspects of your future print jobs you can alter when the need arises.

Service error 49 0e00 problems

Hi This is from the book I hope it helps as you can see its not a very specific fault

good luck Yours Ian

49.XXXX

PRINTER ERROR

To continue turn off then on

A critical firmware error has

occurred that caused the

processor on the formatter to

abort the operation.

This type of error can be caused

by invalid print commands,

corrupt data, or invalid operations.

In some instances, electrical

noise in the cable can corrupt

data during transmission to the

printer. Other causes include

poor-quality parallel cables, poor

connections, or specific

applications.

Sometimes, the formatter itself is

at fault, which is usually indicated

by a 79 SERVICE ERROR.

1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear

the print job from the printer

memory.

2. Turn the printer off and then

on.

3. Go to htpp://www.hp.com/

support/LJ4200 or htpp://

www.hp.com/support/

LJ4300. Select Download

Drivers and Software. Check

for the latest firmware image

version at the bottom of the

page. If this firmware image

is newer than the one

installed on your printer and

your printer can receive a

firmware update, download

the newer firmware upgrade.

Not all HP LaseJet 4200/

4300 printers can receive

firmware upgrades.

4. Try printing a job from a

different software program. If

the job prints, go back to the

first program and try printing

a different file. If the message

appears only with a certain

software program or print job,

contact the software vendor

for assistance.

5. If the message persists when

using different software

programs and attempting

specific print jobs, disconnect

all cables that connect the

printer to the network or a

computer.

6. Turn the printer off.

7. Remove all memory DIMMs

or third-party DIMMs from the

printer. (Do not remove the

firmware DIMM in slot J1.)

See "Firmware DIMM" on

page 160.

8. Remove all of the

EIO devices from the printer.

9. Turn the printer on.

10. If the error message

disappears, reinstall

each DIMM and EIO device

individually, making sure to

turn the printer power off and

then on again as you install

each device. To replace
a DIMM, see figure 98 on

C6180 will not print labels as set out in the avery template. will bunch up as they go down sheet

Step 1 : Change the print settings
The print settings of the HP All-in-One can be customized to handle nearly any print task.
Before changing the print settings, decide whether to change the settings for the current print job only, or to make the settings the default for all future print jobs. How print settings are displayed depends on whether to apply the change to all future print jobs or just to the current print job
Change the print settings for all future jobs:
In the HP Solution Center, click Settings , point to Print Settings , and then click Printer Settings .
Make changes to the print settings and click OK . Change the print settings for the current job:
On the File menu in the software program, click Print . Make sure that the HP All-in-One is the selected printer.
Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box. Depending on the software program, this button might be called Properties , Options , PrinterSetup , or Printer .
Select the appropriate options for the print job by using the features available on the Paper/Quality , Finishing , Effects , Basics , and Color tabs.
Click OK to close the Properties dialog box. Click Print or OK to begin printing.
Step 2 : Print with 210 x 297 mm (8.5 x 11 inch) labels
The HP All-in-One can be used with any software program designed for printing.
This document contains basic information about using the HP All-in-One to print on labels using a software program. For additional information, such as printing a poster, printing multiple pages on a single sheet, and more, see the onscreen Help that came with the HP software.
Follow these steps to print on labels:
· Make sure to load labels in the input tray. Always use letter or A4 label sheets designed for use with HP inkjet devices (such as HP inkjet labels).
· Make sure the labels are no more than two years old. Labels on older sheets might peel off when the paper is pulled through the HP All-in-One, causing paper jams.
  • Fan the stack of labels to make sure no pages are sticking together. Place a stack of label sheets on top of full-size sheet of plain paper in the paper tray, label side down. Do not insert labels one sheet at a time.
    1. On the File menu in the software program, click Print . Select the HP All-in-One as the printer. To change settings, click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
    2. Select the appropriate options for the print job by using the features available on the Paper/Quality , Finishing , Effects , Basics , and Color tabs.
    3. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box. Click Print or OK to begin printing.

HP Laserjet 5000dn

if you using office go to page setup and select the tray(s) that you want to use for the first page and other pages ( both must be the same ) unless you only want the first page as letter head and the rest on plain paper or something along those lines ?

Also if you go into the properties of the printer and go to advanced and then click on the printing defaults button and see if the options in there are the same or different to whats in printing preferences.

If they are set to tray 1 then it will default to tray 1

Epson printer won't print

That sounds a lot like the print spooler has suffered some kind of problem...

Try the following:
  • Click START > Run
  • Type "MMC" and click OK
  • Click on the "File" menu then "Add/Remove Snap-in"
  • Click on "Add..."
  • Select the "Services" snap-in and then click "Add"
  • Select "Local Computer" and then click "Finish"
  • Click "Close" and "OK"
  • Select the "Services (Local)" line
Tip: This is the same thing as going to Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools > Services

From here you:
  • locate the "print spooler" service
  • Right click and choose "Restart"
This will restart the print spooler.

If the spooler is the problem you should be able to send a print job to the printer and it should now start printing.

If not then the chances are this is either a port misconfiguration or a driver error in which case you should try:
  • unplugging the printer (leave it unplugged for now)
  • uninstalling the drivers and software for your printer,
  • restarting your computer
  • download the latest drivers from the epson website
  • install these newest drivers (plug in the printer when prompted to do so)
If the port was misconfigured this SHOULD solve the issue but there's no guarantees... If you're still having issues, post again and we'll go from there..

Hope this helps.

Unable to configure the HP C6380 for double-sided printing

Hello,

Here is the step by step right from the user manual. also here is a direct link to the manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01527492.pdf

Let me know how it works out for you.

Print on both sides of the page
You can print two-sided pages with the HP All-in-One manually. When printing two-sided
pages, make sure to use paper that is thick enough so that images do not show through
to the other side.
To print on both sides of the page
1.
Load paper into the input tray.
2. On the File menu in your software application, click Print.
3. Make sure the product is the selected printer.
4. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties,
Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
5. Click the Features tab.
6. In the Paper saving options area, select Manual from the Two-sided printing dropdown
list.
Perform special print jobs 83
Print
7.
For binding, do one of the following:
• For binding on the top like a notebook or calendar, select the Flip Pages Up check
box.
This causes the odd and even pages of your document to print opposite of each
other top-to-bottom. This ensures that the top of the page is always at the top of
the sheet when you flip the pages up in your bound document.
• For binding on the side like a book or magazine, click to clear the Flip Pages
Up
check box.
This causes the odd and even pages of your document to print opposite of each
other left-to-right. This ensures that the top of the page is always at the top of the
sheet when you turn the pages in your bound document.
3 5 1
8. Click OK, and then click Print or OK in the Print dialog box.
The product begins printing. Wait until all the odd-numbered pages are printed before
removing any of the printed pages from the output tray.
A dialog box displays instructions on the screen when it is time to process the second
side of your job.
9. Click Continue when done.
