Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Aspire 3810TZ is having Windows shut down randomly, then caught in an endless cycle of rebooting in safe mode. It will work fine for a few days, then crash several times in one day. Word will crash then I cannot access any folders until I restart. Google talk was causing problems as well. McAfee says there are not viruses, as does Windows Defender. I'm in Kenya, do not have any of my original CDs and have limited access to tech support. I'm running Vista 64bit and Office 2007. Any ideas or self-help suggestions.?

Computer randomly shuts down in Safe Mode only

I can't think of any reason why you would want to run in safe mode except if the computer crashes your system. If you have a heat problem in safe mode it is shutting down to protect you CPU and GPU which are two things you won't want to replace. If you are over clocking you CPU that could cause this problem as the power management system is not active in Windows when you run safe mode. If your system is under warranty and you are concerned about this problem ask them to do a warranty repair. If it's not under warranty you can take it to Best buy and explain the problem and ask for a PC health check. Last I heard they were still doing those for free. At this point though I would avoid running the PC in Safe Mode

ACER Aspire 5100 powers down at will

When you turn the laptop on hit f8 until the menu comes up, try use the last good known configuration. If that does not work tap f8 goto safe mode and then to system restore and restore it to an earlier time. Let me know if it works.

System Service Exception Error (Blue Screen) - Acer AX1200

If you can reboot to Safe Mode and select "Last Known Good Configuration" it will be best but if you can't then you have to completely shut- down and reboot with your Restore or Windows CD and select the options to do a "Repair"

When I switch on Acer Aspire 5315 get message "Configuring updates 3 of 3 0% complete" for a few second then pc shuts down restarts and goes back to the same configuring updates message just...

try starting the computer in safe mode. As the computer boots keep pressing F8 until you hear a beep. The computer will or should start in safe mode, once it has everything will look big, don't worry about that for now, click on start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore and choose a date for when you know the computer was working without any problems. Once the computer has restored it will shut down and reboot. When/if asked what mode you want to boot/start your computer choose start windows normally. I hope this helps.

Computer shuts down and tries to reboot in an endless cycle

This sounds like a heat related issue.
Are you sure that the CPU fan is running and that the vent ducts are all clear?
You maye be able to get it cleaned out with a can of compressed air.
Is the computer new? If so, then it is probably not dust, but if it is more than a couple of years old, then that is probably the problem.
