Same Problem

-   I bought my mother a new digital frame last night, but am not sure how to load pictures onto the PNY 2GB Optima SD Ultra-high speed flash memory. I have the pictures on disk now, and need to transfer them from my Dell laptop and PC.-   sharifann

-   same exact problem here.... think I'm gonna bring this back... it does seem to work hooked up to my phone (which can operate as a usb drive) but not when I put in the memory stick I bought for it.

Have formatted the drive FAT, FAT32, tried small (200k) files, big files, different resolutions etc.

The pen drive lights up and flashes for a few seconds when connected, then the lights go off as if it isn't powered at all. When I select 'Photos' from the menu it goes to loading and stays there indefinitely and the pen drive never flashes to indicate any activity.

Terrible product.

I got one for xmas and pics download easily every time. I connect my camera to the laptop then load the shots I want onto the SD card on the camera, disconnect and remove the SD card from the camera then insert in the frame. I have had no problems with photo size or downloading time. I do have a problem when I remove images from the SD card however. The frame still displays images that I deleted and are not showing when I connect to the laptop!  Can anyone help?

I had all of these problems. I deleted the password protection from my memory stick, which sorted the usb problem. Yet I still cant get the SD card to function...

My wife had one of these frames and we experienced the same problem. After much gnashing of teeth I stumbled upon the solution which was caused in part by the very poor english in the instructions and poor product display.

The way to get it to work is to plug in the low voltage power plug, without the USB memory stick and then you will get two icons on the screen, 'SetUP' and 'Photos'. press the left or right buttons until the 'Set UP' folder is white with black lettering. Place the USB stick in its socket and press 'Select', the right hand button on the back, facing the frame.

The pictures then start to load with a standard loading bar and away you go. Large pictures take a bit longer to load, ours were betwen 4 and 5 MB each.

The Curry's web site is a red herring which might work, but normal memory sticks work fine.

The real problem is the indication of the high light on the icons, which is not the same as the standard Windows method we are used to.

The english needs to be checked by an english speaker to ensure clear directions for use, a common problem with far eastern goods.

Hope this helps.

Try this link. From what I can understand, the USB slot is only used to connect the frame to a computer and not a usb stick.
Hope this helps.

the solution is simple.
1.not all usb sticks are compatible with the product, but from my
experimentation, these usb sticks have worked even when you
save files that are not in jpeg format, try these ones out:
toshiba usb
sandisk usb
kingston usb

2.if u have a laptop with a card reader facility, i assume you
habe your pictures on a laptop already, then put your sd card
in the card reader compartment of the laptop, just click on ctrl+the
pictures that you want to store on the card, then right click
the pictures and on the options given to you, send it to the card reader
i believe these steps should solve your problems
wish u luck

Had the problem with USB as well. Re-formatted the usb flash drive to be sure there were no hidden files on the drive and loaded jpeg photos. The size doesn't matter. Works fine. But when putting any other file type on drive it stops working. So try to delete any files which aren't jpegs and it should work.

Also when plugging in the USB drive make sure you are at the startup view and then select the photo icon.

Hope this helps.

USB port worked at first and then that silly loading icon sat forever. It was seeing the usb stick and trying to read it (flashing led) So I took it apart and examined the soldering of the usb port (dull looked like a dry joint)heated the iron up, resoldered the connections and all works fine.

If what is said works and you feel confident about it, take it back, geta refund and buy it again on sale - £10 reduction.

I changed to LOGIK instead and it worked first time. And it has an "on-off" switch too!

I also bought this and had the same problem. Having been back to PC world it was because the memory stick was password protected. They swopped the stick over and it works exactly as it should.

Exactly the same. Tried to use a USB stick to load photos to the frame. Nothing happened except a loading icon which went on forever.

Absolutely useless.

At least the screensaver has some nice pretty flowers and a picture of an annoying kid in a hat to look at for a bit, until you get bored of waiting.

I'm taking it back later on, what a let down. The missus was looking forward to having the wedding pics on it. I'll just have to stand in the corner and hold a different one up every few minutes instead. thanks Matsui.

Exactly the same issue. I reduced the size, changed UBS sticks, tried only 5 photos. No different.

Just got a refund without any problem when I slapped a print out of these similar issues on the counter.

It should run from a UBS stick, it does not need to run from a PC.

I also have the same problem.  I am off to return this to you where I got it from later today as have to give it as a present to my mother in law today.  I spent hours getting the photos ready only for it to say "loading" all night!
pretty rubbish really.

Comment by The Chaplain, posted on Dec 25, 2007

I too have loaded photos onto a flashdrive, making sure all photos are saved as JPEG format and have a resolution of less than the stated 480x238. But still all I get is a 'loading' message and no photos.
Any ideas? My wife is rather disapponted that her Christmas Pressie is not working! So no extra turkey for me till it is fixed!!!
Many thanks
Andrew
