I also have somewhat of the same problem, the player can be found by the operating system (Windows 2000) but when I unplug the player it flashes red. If it's a firmware problem I could really use some help, even though the player itself is only $40.00 I could go buy a new one but if I can salvage the thing it would be great.

My MP3 won't turn on. What do I do? I have the 1GB Designer Vision (Red. Dont know if you need that info) When I try to turn in on it flashes which its supposed to do and then it goes to the words "designer vision" and stops there. Can anyone help me on this?

In order for the mp3 player to play the music files, the files have to be formatted as MP3 files. Even though this mp3 player says it will play wma files, it won't. Try downloading a freeware program that will change the format of the songs from wma to mp3.

Well, you can always try Reformatting it with the built in Operating System Format.. Since I have no 2000 boxes around anymore, I cannot tell you for sure that it will work with the older OS, but I have had to reformat my old MP3 Flash Stick Player before, and it worked... (Now I use a Zune, so if I loose it, I will have to try something more extreme, like updating the firmware..)

Now, all that being said, I also have a vast array of memory sticks that are quite dead, and formatting them does me no good at all...

Also, it could even be the USB ports themselves that are causing your issues.. one quick fix might be to update the drivers, or just uninstall the USB devices (Device Manager) and then reinstall them, just by rebooting your PC.

I have a great link for solving USB problems, since my website is down for repairs.. read through this for some help with USB:

Lost my zen vision m installation cd

You can download the software for the Zen Vision:M at:

The software found there is newer than on the cd, you
should be able to make a new cd with the newer software,
this is cheaper than ordering a new cd from creative.

Formating the mp3 player

Don't format the player. Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager. If you have lost your installation CD, you can get the Philips Device Manager from Philips website.

Disney mix stick software

You don't need the disk that came with the Mix Stick. It's just a plug in that interfaces with Windows Media Player and it completely optional. Without the software you can still use the Sync function in Windows Media Player to synchronize songs to the player.

Unknown Format

It is not the MP3 player but the DRM copy protection on the cd. DO NOT BUY CDs WITH DRM PROTECTION. There are ways around the DRM - rip the cd into another format with software designed for this purpose.
