SOURCE: Displays "lens Error"

This is probably THE single most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Pictures BLACK

Of course the D800 is full frame and the DX 18-135 is a DX. The only thing the D800 needs to do is switch to DX mode. The Nikon FF camera's can work with DX lenses. (if the lens has a chip) You still have a nice 15 Mp picture on the D800. But if something was wrong with the lens, you should have an error on the display.
Please to check the lens, switch to live view. You should see something. If not, really something can be wrong.
Carful go to taking a picture step by step. Be sure the lens is correctly put on the body. But before you put it on, look is all contacts are clean shiny and there are no dents.

Lens error restart camera

Most digital cameras, with zoom lenses, will generate an error, when the lens can't move freely. If you manually stop it, it will give the same error. The camera will retract the lens and generate an error. But if a mechanical error causes the lens not to operate as it should, you get the same error. The camera stops to prevent greater damage. If you can see anything that obstructs the movement of the lens, try to remove it. If you can't see anything, you have to fear something inside the camera is defect and only can be repaired by a technician. Just consider if it is worth paying for a repair, when new camera's are becoming cheaper by the day.

My cannon rebel eos DS6041 displays error 99 when

'Error 99' indicates some problem with the AF contacts. This is a common error in Canon lenses. It could indicate a very simple problem like dirty contacts or a much serious one like the breakage of USM cable.
As a first step, you can try cleaning the lens and body contacts (the metal contacts between the lens and body) using a pencil eraser. Be careful to hold the body facing down so that no dust falls inside. After cleaning both the lens and the body contacts, re-attach the lens and try shooting. If the AF does not work still, you need to take the lens to an authorized service center.

Canon ixus 80 is lens error tried everything no joy

With digital cameras, it must be noted that lenses are very sensitive, and can be damaged by most any impact when the lens is extended. Keeping the camera in a padded case can prevent most of this kind of damage. This particular lens problem may not have been caused by impact, but most often is. Lenses are not easy to fix, and internal parts can become broken or jammed.
To try to fix this you can try to pull on the lens when you turn it on, and at the same time also do a slight twisting and back ward motion as well. This may reset the lens to the track system. It may not work, and may require repairs.
Canon has a great repair department. Canon Repair and information.
Call the 800 number and see what can be done. Also, Canon has a trade-in or trade-up program and for your broken camera, you may be able at a reasonable price to get something even better than what you have with all the original books and papers which came with the new camera. This may be a good way to go and consider, rather than spending a lot to repair it.

My Nikon 7900 has a lense error. WHEN TURNED ON IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS SLIPPING AT THE LENSE, THE LENSE DOES NOT COME OUT, THEN IT SAYES (LENSE ERROR)

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Error message in D 90 camera

I had the same problem (same kit). I even exchanged the kit for a new one, and had the same issue. I'm convinced it's the connection between the camera and the lense - when I wiggled the lense, it would sometimes return to normal. I considered cleaning the contact points, but then the problem went away. I've been shooting hundreds of times, without it happening once.

Problem with Canon XL1S lens

Definitely sounds like there is a problem with the lens. You might be able to get a new one, from canon, considering they have a lifetime warranty on all of their Lenses. Otherwise, it seems that you will have to spend some money.

You might want to check the position of the aperture ring on the lens. If it is not set at the highest number, ( IE smallest aperture, f22,f32 ), then the camera will display that error message
