Problem for PC Laptops

Usb support in RHEL4
I have a hp pavilion dv1000 series laptop. I installed RHEL 4 on it.
I can't get the usb working and the sound card ICH5 chip working.
when i do a lsmod I can see the driver modules ehci and ohci but still the optical mouse which connects to the usb port donot work.
I tried upgrading the kernel 2.6.22.6 and with hid sp , but still it doesnot work !
can you help me out.
