Just because the needle is free dose`nt mean it is sealing. Hold the carb upside down and try blowing into the fuel inlet pipe, if it is sealed you can`t blow through it but if you hold the right way up you can. Check the float for damage or pinholes, fuel could leak into the float and make it too heavy to close the needle valve. Stephen

Have you looked at replacing the seat along with the needle? Plus the float may have a hole in it or some crude on it weighing it down. Or the float may be not adjusted right.
Good Day.

I think you still have a gas issue. confirm you don't have a gas tank vacuum problem by loosening the gas cap (which is also a vent) or taking it right off to see if that allows it to keep running. It could also be a leaky gas primer bulb but not likely if it does run.

I have a polaris snowmobile and it starts up great, idles fine, but after running it about 200 yards or for about 30 mins it dies and wont start up for 10 mins or so. What could cause it to do this,

The problem is the needle valve in your carb is partially clogged. It's not letting enough gas into your carb fast enough. You let it sit for 10 mins and it slowly fills the carb's bowl back up. Then you ride it and it empties the bowl of gas faster than the needle valve can keep it full and the snowmobile dies. Get the carb cleaned and it will fix your problem

Mtd 139cc ohv engine will start with primer, but stalls within two or three seconds

Ensure oil is full. Engine has a low oil cutoff. 30w oil. Replace carb only about $27.

Gas in oil, already rebuilt carb

Hi, gas in oil is only caused by the needle not sealing on the seat in the carby. This can be caused by three possibilities. The float height incorrect, the needle been worn or debris under the needle. Even if all three are ok an inline fuel tap that is turned off when the mower is not in use will eliminate later problems. Regards Phil.

Have a mtd yard machine riding lawn mower with a 15.5 ohv engine when using must use choke to keep running why?

This is because the gas is not flowing easily through the carburetor. This is usually due to some old gas gumming things up. First, replace the gas filter (if there is one). If that doesn't fix it, it usually works to drain the gas (discard it if it's more than a few weeks old). Then take a little fresh gas mixed with a little carb cleaner (about 2 parts gas to 1 part carb cleaner - about 1/4 cup total). Run the engine on that. If it doesn't improve, repeat up to 3 times. If that still doesn't fix it, you will have to clean out the gas tank, the fuel line, the bowl on the carburetor, and the needle valve that is operated by the float in the bowel. Clean all this and reassemble.

Briggs & Stratton 6hp yard machine with 21inch cut. Not getting fuel. I replaced a bad fuel line and now no fuel! If I take the air filter off and spray fuel into the carb it runs until I quit.

The fuel bowl needs to be removed and a new float and needle needs to be installed. The float "floats" in the gas bowl raising the needle, letting fuel into the carb. The repair kit cost about $5 and easily replaced. The float is attached with a pin and the needle fits on the float.
