Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

1 Answer

Recently my Vista 64 keyboard seems to get randomly remapped. When I reboot, all is okay for a while, then craziness later on. Any suggestions? (It's not NUM LOCK.)

Go to device manager and remove device. Reboot and windows will reinstall your keyboard driver. Might get lucky and this will fix it. If not, try updating the driver.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to remap the keyboard keys in windows 7?

I have 2 links for you. The first explains how to 'hack' your registry in order to change keys.
The second link has an article that links to a program which does the same as the first link, it just makes it easier to understand for someone who is slightly less of a tech guru.

Hope it helps!

My Dell Studio 1737 operates the F11 from the numerical 1 key!

1 year old banged on the keyboard, and you wish to know if this did it?
Was it okay before that? Not trying to be impertinent, but seems obvious to me.

Suggest you grab that Windows 7 disk, and perform a Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)
Let's see what this does before we go on.

I installed recently HP officejet Pro L7480, but hP solution center failed to detect any device and closed. the officejet also failed to scan - error message: No scan option

Hi There, This is a known issue with this device. Please follow the below steps to fix this issue : Try to do a complete uninstall

*first step*

-run installation media (CD / Download) software

-select uninstall and on the process, select uninstall all hp softwares associated the with the device

-after uninstall , select restart later to reboot the computer later

-go to start > control panel > add/remove programs (XP) programs (Vista)

-uninstall any existing HP softwares (note: for hp computers, skip this process)

-restart later

*2nd step*

-open contents of the installation media

-if you're using the installation CD. go to my computer, select the drive which has your cd in (eg. E:/ , D:/ ) right click on the icon and select open / explore.

-if you're using a downloaded software, click on start and click on run (XP) startsearch (vista), on that box, type in the command ( %temp% ) and press enter. it will open up temporary files folder.

-locate the file that starts with 7z (eg. 7z001cs1) and open it and now you are in the contents of the installer

-on the contents of the installer, locate UTIL folder and open it then locate CCC and open it as well

(note: check your operating system if it is running on a 32-bit or 64-bit . you can check it going to start>control panel>system)

-on CCC folder , locate uninstall L1 (for 32-bit) uninstall L1 64 (for 64 bit) and run it. (note: there will be a command prompt box that will launch, press enter to continue) restart later

-on CCC folder , locate uninstall L2 (for 32-bit) uninstall L2 64 (for 64 bit) and run it. (note: there will be a command prompt box that will launch, press enter to continue) restart later

on CCC folder , locate uninstall L3 (for 32-bit) uninstall L3 64 (for 64 bit) and run it. (note: there will be a command prompt box that will launch, press enter to continue) restart later (repeat uninstall L3 steps for 3 times)

Sony Vaio AW190 random lock-ups

It is all to do with 64 bit Digital Signing of drivers. may I suggest that you format the drive again... completely "Flatten it" then reformat, and reinstall Vista 32BIT. Most of your problems will disappear. The 64 bit version is plagued with "Driver" issues and doesn't play nice with lots of things and the Digital Driver Signing is a real bear, If you are to use Non-signed drivers you MUST press F8 at boot time and disable digital driver signing.. a real bug bear to do. In any even there is NOT a huge performance hit in any case as most programs aren't written nor use the 64 bit architecture anyway. If you must use 64bit then ensure you assemble your 64bit Digitally Signed Drivers, and have them at hand when doing the install.
