Why does the bottom thread on my 185k Singer sewing machine keep tangling.

Your bottom thread looks like the top tension is too loose or not being fed through the tension disc.
1. While you thread do it with the pressure foot up. Make small pulls while threading to make sure there are no snags.
2. When you finish threading put the foot down. Check for resistance on the thread. There should be some; not excessive though.
3. Always start at four on tension and adjust as you need to.

make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever

Thread keeps bunching on the bottom of the material when I sew. Have a Singer Futura 920

Generally bunching underneath is related to the top tension. Check your tensions - you might have to fiddle around a bit to get it right

Thread bunchingup on bottom of material on singer

Hello,
Here are some solutions to try.

* Re-thread your machine
It may be threaded incorrectly.

* Raise your feed dogs If your machine has this feature.

* When you start to sew a seam, hold the upper and bobbin thread tails back and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting caught in your machine.

I hope this helps.

My singer 533 machine keeps bunching up with

Top tension about 4 or 5, make sure the bobbin turns anti clockwise, make sure you only use a mercerised thread no thicker than a number 40 and the bobbin thread should pull through with slight resistence only.

Keeps "birdnesting", besides rethreading, how do I fix?

when you have bunching on the bottom, you have a problem with the top thread: no tension. (and visa versa) Make sure the thread runs through the tension discs, these discs are activated when you put the presser foot down, so you want to thread the machine with the foot up, also feel if there no burrs, hooks, or whatever, so your top thread comes smooth off the spool, no jerking.

Bobbin thread bunching

I have a Singer 2950. The thread keeps getting bunched up on the reserve side of the fabric, and does not stitch. It is driving me crazy. I think I have the bobbin threaded correctly, as well as the machine. I have tried everything! Please help!
